In this installment of, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - the Blog, in our series on Curse Breaking - Ghost Hunting and Spiritism, we're going to examine necromancy and divination, and it's cultural relevance in ghost hunting and Christian beliefs.
If you have just dived into this series, you can take a look at the first 2 parts in this series, Part I - Spiritualism and Part II - Saul Consults the Long Island Medium. In Part III we're going to examine necromancy and divination, and how ghost hunting Christians, have not only stepped over a fine line of God's, but have trampled on it.
My background is in deliverance ministry and exorcism. If you read my blogs you'll notice I am not too fond of 95% of the deliverance books that are out there. I actually quit buying deliverance books once I became assertive in my own spiritual authority to stand up to the forces of darkness. I have been walked through this training by the Holy Spirit. Myself, and my team have done, close to, if not well over, 1000 cases with supernatural battles against the forces of darkness. These all involved some form of house (with activity, murder scene, etc) blessing, deliverance, major curse breaking from the occult, spirit detachment or an exorcism. My team is in no way involved in any paranormal investigations. We are a ministry team to assist people with supernatural battles beyond the scope of their local church clergy. I just want you to keep this in the back of your mind when you read something I write here that may really sound crazy to you. I draw upon my battlefield experience. Not from some deliverance book that was ghost written for some popular Christian mega pastor-author-speaker based on his voice recorder notes. Sorry. Sad but true. A lot of deliverance books are ghost written. The funny part is I am starting to hear these speakers quote A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - under the guise of what some would consider 'flattery'. Isn't imitation the greatest form of flattery? But even under 'flattery' you should really quote your sources. Some copy cat titles are beginning to emerge, such as The Real Life Field Guide. I mean excuse me, having battles with the occult, demonic shadow manifestations, and objects flying around your house during intercession wasn't real life? Again, it's another book ghost written - caveat emptor! Buyer beware! So much for the integrity at the pulpit.
Well, I digressed. The information herein comes from battlefield experience. My intent isn't to get a bullhorn like those evangelists on the streets do and call out people's sins. My intent is to demonstrate to any of you who are Christians and ghost hunting, how dangerous of a mix this REALLY is. Christians participating in ghost hunting are already demonized with some sort of spiritual attachment. The attachment is in the disguise of wanting to go out to more spiritually active areas. Why? To load you up with more spirits! The rule of thumb is do not consult the dead. Ghost hunting is not seeking proof of the supernatural, it is consulting the dead for answers you should be seeking through your faith. You're asking the demonic for proof of your eternity. This information came from people our ministry had to clean up and detach dark spirits from.
There's a reason God instructed us not to mess with this. These spirits are demonic! Look at what the book of Deuteronomy says, Necromancy and Spiritism are FORBIDDEN under the law of God.
Spiritism Forbidden
9 “When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 18:9-13)
The law clearly states that "WHOEVER" does these things is in rebellion to God. The law doesn't stop there.
31 “‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19:31)
How are we defiled? By spiritual attachment and rebellion against the word of God. God is warning you that if you mess around with this stuff you WILL get proof of their existence. Only not in the form of proof you thought you would get. It would be in the form of severe demonic oppression or possession. The goofy thing is, my ministry has worked with Christians who have dabbled in the occult. When the Christian got demonized or got the mojo in the form of a curse, they went to a psychic or a gypsy to break the curse. Some people went to numerous psychic and gypsies (both are divination), paid thousands of dollars for useless help or got further demonized - before they came to Jesus for help! You will get defiled if you mess with this stuff. The worst defilement is the rebellion to God with your ghost hunting activities. This is what opens up a doorway to the demonic and it's you who holds the door open for them! You can't cry out to God for help and and at the same time usher in the demons. The more demons that come in the more they tell you Jesus cant help you. They're right. Jesus won't help you while you're being duplicitous in your spirituality. He'll let you go back to you own vomit (Proverbs 26:11). People always ask me, but Pastor Mike, how can a Christian be demonized? God allows us to have free will. Under this domain God allows for us to be stupid. Stupid is what gets you demonized! Pastor Mike, could you clerify stupid? Yes, it looks like this, when you're cursing yourself by going to demons for knowledge of the after-life. You need to consult God about supernatural matters - not the realm of darkness. If you're asking a spirit questions and demanding a response, this is seeking knowledge from demons.
In the book of Isaiah,
19 When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? (Isaiah 8:19)
I have been using the New American Standard Bible (NASB) translation, but the King James Version (KJV) translation really brings it home. Let's look at these verses again, sometimes the KJV translation speaks for itself,
9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There
shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his
daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an
observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. (Deuteronomy 18:9-13)
In Leviticus,
31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19:31)
Have you noticed a trend on what term was used in KJV? "Familiar spirits" - demons!
And Isaiah,
19 And
when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar
spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a
people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? (Isaiah 8:19)
There it is again! Familiar spirits! So who are communicating with us in haunted houses? What is it that is twisting the flash light on and off, speaking through the spirit box, spelling out on the ouija or witch board, showing up as a shadow on the wall, giving a response with knocks, or leaving an EVP? It's a demon! The dead can't respond to you. If you believe this your not practicing the Christian faith you're a spiritist! The greatest danger aside from offending God is being sucked into a demonic obsession in speaking to the spirits.
Any and all form of communication with the dead is forbidden by the word of God. The spirit knocking and spirit boards were the method of choice of communication for some time. The spirit board is more commonly known as a OUIJA board. The OUIJA board is so last millennium. So now spiritualists use digital voice recorders, that you can pick up at any office supply store, and have conversations with spirits. A spiritualist will ask a spirit questions, pause, and let the spirit speak. When playing back the conversation, paranormal investigators listen for spirit responses captured on the digital recording device. Spirit boxes are another high tech toy that has a microprocessor the spirits can use to articulate speech through using computer phonemes. The spirit box has a dictionary of words the spirit can access and respond in real time to a paranormal investigator. Now you don't even need the medium to speak with the dead. The spirit box has gained popularity by it's regular usage on the Ghost Adventures show on the travel channel. As a side note, the Ghost Adventures crew, Zac Bagan, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin have all experienced demonic torment from their involvement in paranormal investigation. Aaron Goodwin has been an open book on Ghost Adventures, that his marriage ended because of demonic spirits that attached to him, Zac and Nick, from their paranormal investigations. Zac still reports on his blogs he gets night terrors and physical attacks. Aaron, by the way, is an awesome down to earth guy. I met Aaron twice while ministering in Las Vegas. He'll never remember me. But I do remember what a great guy he is. He's the reason I tune into GA every week. One of these days Aaron Goodwin I would love to sit and have a chat with you. You have the M16 business card. Next time your in Northern California or I run into you in Vegas - let's go get a beer and share some stories. This Pentecostal pastor has some war stories you haven't heard yet!
Conclusion
Does contacting the dead still sound exciting to you? If you have messed with contacting spirits and you know there is an oppression around you, repent! You may need a prayer team present if you are repenting of ghost hunting. You may find yourself unable to repent of this sin. That's the spiritual attachment at work.
Heavenly Father I come before you today to repent of my involvement of contacting the dead. I understand that what I did was against you and your Word. I ask for forgiveness and that I am cleansed from all assignments and curses I opened up on myself and my family line. I take ownership of my actions in spiritualism and paranormal investigation and I renounce my involvement in this. I repent for seeking spirits, angels and miracles in the afterlife. I repent for seeking power and knowledge from demonic sources. I repent fro not following the one truth – you Jesus. I ask that your truth set me free. I renounce Satan. In Jesus name I ask that I be made clean before your eyes and be made whole. I will sin no more in spiritualism and paranormal investigation. I ask that this curse be taken from me and I receive blessings from you God. In Jesus precious name I pray. AMEN.

Jim was a Ghost Hunter in Northern California. Most of his Friday night's he would spend with his his friends, toting electronic gadgets and going through haunted homes. Jim's paranormal team even setup a web channel where people could login and watch a paranormal team do an investigation. Jim was having the time of his life. Ghost hunting was thrilling and exciting.
One day an exciting case came in. They were invited to a house with demonic activity. They packed up their gear and off they went to the house they called, “the Hell Gate”.
Jim still remembers this investigation. It wasn't the thrill of the lifetime investigation he had hoped for. Instead, this investigation became the start of a living nightmare for Jim. A demonic spirit attached itself to Jim and went home with him.
Over the next few months Jim became violently sick, and something medically inexplicable was eating away at Jim from the inside out. Literally. Jim was afraid to go to sleep at night because a dark shadow would manifest over over his bed.
Jim's friends from his ghost hunting team were paranormal-ly perplexed. In reality, Jim's paranormal investigator friends weren't the great intellects of the paranormal as the TV shows portray these people to be. In fact, they didn't really contact Jim because they didn't know what to do with him. Now on Friday nights, Jim's posse~ went off on different haunted web productions -without him.
Jim was frustrated! So he did what any good paranormal investigator would do, he contacted a psychic. Jim consulted a top psychic-spiritualist over the phone. She told Jim that the house he got the evil spirit from was on desecrated Indian ground. The demon attacking Jim was now communicating with the psychic and feeding her disinformation. If demons laugh, you know this was one chuckling out loud. Because now the psychic had Jim off on a wild goose chase petitioning the California Indian council for a cleansing ceremony on his home. Jim was frustrated that the council didn't return his calls.
Nobody returned Jim's calls except for the psychic. As Jim's condition worsened he decided the spiritualists and ghost hunter's around him were useless. Jim reached out and contacted a Christian ministry, M16.
It took numerous and long drawn out phone calls on our part to convince Jim he didn't need to contact the California Indian council for a cleansing. It was Jim that needed the spiritual cleansing. We had even a tougher time of breaking Jim from his psychic dependency. He would tell the ministry he wasn't in contact with his psychic, then in a lengthy phone call, have a slip of the tongue he was talking with her. So we stopped working with Jim. He had to choose, Jesus or the psychic.
A week later Jim called us back and decided to work with us. It took over a month to work with Jim. He, like most other people coming out of paranormal situations, didn't want to run to Jesus. They just want to be saved from their pain and move on in life. That's not how Jesus works. Jesus is a healer, but he wants to make you whole. This means you need to run to him. After a long and painstaking battle, Jim finally accepted Jesus. By battle, I don't mean between my spiritual views and his. Jim was struggling because Jesus was kicking this thing's butt! Only, the life style he was involved in, and hanging around paranormal investigators, Jesus was a myth. Jim had a lot of internal struggles and battles and lots of phone calls with Lisa and myself. He was perplexed that this Jesus person, had the power to push back on the realm of darkness. Jim's life turned around when he stopped being a spiritualist and started being a spiritual follower of Jesus.
Spiritualism
Spiritualism has its roots in American history that dates back to the 1840's. In upstate New York, Christian revivals were so impacted in the area and so many occurring, the area was labeled the “Burned-over district”. One Christian revival after another swept through this region. Revivals literally “burned” through towns like wild fires. People were spiritually hungry for the power the revivals brought to their town. But as the revivals left town, nothing was left to spiritually feed the people that had powerful Jesus encounters. The revivals left a vacuum of the power of the Holy Spirit when they pulled up their stakes and departed. The vacuum became filled by cults and non-Christian beliefs bringing their own revivals.
Upstate New York spawned many cults during this revival burn over period. Joseph Smith founded Mormonism in this region. The Book of Mormon was reportedly unearthed in a hillside in Palmyra, New York.
The Fox Sisters
In the 1840's the Fox sisters, of Hydesville, New York, founded the new religion, spiritualism. After living in a haunted home, the youngest of the three sisters communicated with a spirit by having the spirit tap out yes or no to her questions. The three sisters became the first of what we now know as modern day mediums. The new religion spread like wild fire, through upstate New York, and soon the country was on fire with spiritualism. The religion was based on the belief that human souls could wander the earth as ghosts and you could communicate with them. It's interesting to see how the enemy re-invents old things and packages them up like something brand new. Spiritualism is still necromancy!
At the time of this writing, nearly every major cable network has some sort of ghost hunting or paranormal show. I was surprised to find that even Animal Planet has a paranormal show. All the ghost hunting shows you see on television and the Internet today are spiritualism based. They all employ the belief systems and methods for communicating with the dead, that the Fox sisters introduced in the 1840s. The television show, on the SyFy network, Ghost Hunters, you see the team members using this knocking technique developed by Kate Fox to communicate with the dead. Investigator Steve Gonsalves, on Ghost Hunters, uses his “Shave and a haircut” knock all the time on the show to drum up spirit response. This communication by knocking is what Kate Fox and her two sisters used in the 1840's when they started the religion. Mediums existed long before the Fox sisters came long. However, the Fox sisters were responsible for the modern movement of spiritualism.
Although the Fox sisters all passed away in the late the 1800s, their legacy lives on. It is thriving at the Lily Dale Assembly. Lily Dale is a spiritualist community comprised of mediums, located in Lily Dale, New York. The assembly is the existing church of spiritualism founded by the Fox sisters in the 1840s. Lily Dale is still flourishing today. You can go out there and pay a gate fee, only good for 24 hours to visit the community.
Psychics and God's Laws
Before we discuss whether a Christian should be involved in ghost hunting, let's first take a look at some scriptural facts on ghosts and spiritualism. First of all, the scripture prohibits us from engaging in any form of contact with ghosts. Regardless if they're departed human souls or evil spirits.
‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:31)
A medium is a psychic. Psychics communicate with the dead. Communicating with the dead is necromancy. Scripture says that to seek the consultation of a medium is to be defiled by them. Why? Remember our friend Jim who was receiving the counter attacks through disinformation from his medium? Mediums are in contact with demons. Plain and simple.

There it is, in black and white, in Deteuronomy 18, verse 11, being a medium is an abomination to God. It is an abomination because it is a counterfeit prophetic gift, what a deliverance minister would call a Jezebel spirit. God has prophets and seers that listen to his word. A medium listens to demons. Bringing the belief into the church that ghost hunting is okay is defilement of God's word. This is the movement of a Jezebel spirit, a counter prophetic spirit, and it needs to be shut down in the church body.
Uncertain of Their Own Faith in Eternity
The most compelling reason Christians get involved in ghost hunting and paranormal investigations is because they believe they are providing proof of the after-life. The problem is the proof they are seeking is spiritualism truth. Which is a lie from the father of lies. For one, Jesus chastised the Pharisees for demanding to see miracles. This is where the Christian ghost hunter is with their faith. The ghost hunter requires to see miracles, which in the case of ghost hunting, are from the enemy. Yes, it is proof of existence of the supernatural, but the spiritualist is so convoluted in lies they can't see the spirit is a demon. Furthermore, involvement in these activities brings curses, like the attachment of an evil spirit like our friend Jim had. The lure of chasing the supernatural also brings uncontrollable obsessions as well.

By now if you've been following my blogs you know I love watching reality tv paranormal shows. One show I love tuning in to is The Dead Files on the Travel Channel. One thing I love about this show is that it is an honest attempt at people involved in the paranormal to assist people who are in dire straights with their paranormal situations. I can tell Amy Allan's heart is truly in the right place to help people in paranormal conundrums.
I watch the shows through the eyes of my own ministry, and the people we have reached out to and helped in similar no where to turn situations.
I'll be quite honest here, if I were to give the people who came to us the same advice given on The Dead Files, these people would still be living in their nightmares. I am an exorcist who works with pastors and Christian counselors. I am not a paranormal investigator. I am a minister, who operates in the ministry of exorcism. In this blog entry I will bring to light through our ministry what I see is wrong and flat out demonic in a lot of popular paranormal shows.
The Chemistry of Sensationalism
Let's face it, the producers of these shows need to attract viewers in the millions. The best way to gain viewers is to create a show with the combination of psychics and demons appearing weekly in each episode. This is the chemistry combination these shows strive for. Case point number one, the goal of these shows is to pump out as many demon filled episodes as possible to the craving viewer. In a nutshell, reality tv is giving demons a means of communication to millions of viewers.
Let's look at the show chemistry of the psychic. Each show carefully chooses a psychic that appears to be highly educated in the dealings with the after life. Amy Allan holds a degree in parapsychology. Which, from an exorcist point of view, is useless. Most tv psychics are pagan. Michelle from Paranormal State and Amy Allan are obviously pagan practitioners.
A majority of Amy's advice for people in demonic situations has been to flee the house or to call in, what she called in one episode, an alpha warlock, to drive out a demon. When Amy does recommend and exorcist it is to be a janitor to come in and clean the house. Then she recommends a parapsychology clairvoyant to come in and finish the job. These shows also tend to display clergy as weak and incapable of dealing with the demonic. Au contraire!!! The men, women, and clergy I have had the honor to go into battle with proved to be an insurmountable and victorious in nearly every battle. These were nasty battles with the forces of darkness - I am not talking about deliverance sessions - I am referring to exorcisms.
The Dead Files seems to go out of its way to show how ineffective the followers of Jesus are. Which is a spiritual lie the demons want to spread with their reality shows. I am a minister through River International, I am not Roman Catholic, but I was raised Roman Catholic. The Roman Catholic exorcists I have worked have, for the most part, proven to be phenomenal warriors of God almighty. If you are in a situation where you are getting scratched, raped, or terrorized by shadows (the demonic) don't call a psychic or a paranormal team - call the local Roman Catholic diocese office.
Parapsychology is junk science and should not be employed in demonic war zones. If you call a psychic in to your war zone you will compound the problems on your site. The communication with the demonic (NOT THE DEAD) invites more demons into the problem. There is always more than one demon involved!
Steps to Take in a War Zone
If you're a follower of Jesus jump right in. If you're not a follower of Jesus, you maybe a wiccan, a psychic plagued by demons you attracted, a gnostic, a New Age follower, doesn't matter, who you are - you have a demon problem with no where to turn.
You need to pray the following,
Jesus, the true Jesus, the King of kings, and the lord of Lords. I need your help. Please help me. I am in a battle against your enemy and I have no where else to turn. I ask for your protection and for you to reveal to me how real you are. Reveal to me how you can help me and protect me. I need your help.
That's all you need to do. If feel yourself braking down in crying in your weakness that's okay too. That's just Jesus stepping in to take a load off your shoulders with the demonic. The demons will try to stop you. Ask Jesus to show you that he is stronger than the demonic spirits. You must be willing to step out of your bondage to a spirit of fear the demons have placed you in. Some battles like this end in a matter of hours or they can drag on for months and escalate. But Jesus is dealing with it the whole time. The fight always ends with Jesus victorious. And a life changing event in spirituality for your belief system. If you are engaged in warfare, you must cease and desist spell casting, transcendental meditation, observance of pagan holidays. You literally need to close all portals, by remaining inactive in your normal spiritual behavior that is creating gateways. Just let Jesus handle the battle. Fighting the demonic with witchcraft is a seriously BAD idea. Just chill and keep talking to the real Jesus. Why the real Jesus? Witchcraft will send the false Jesus to lead your mind into defeat. This is the false Jesus that sets up shop in spiritist churches and universalist churches. It's a demon with no power anyware close to the true Jesus!
Now let's jump back into the warfare advice.
If you're arguing and fighting in the house you need to shift the atmosphere. Be self conscious of the tension. Play worship music in the house. Pandora (stations: Jesus Culture, Hillsong United, Gospel) and www.elijahsterams.com are good places to look for streaming Christian music.
If you're in a war zone then the demons have you in CHAOS! That's right, I can tell right now from experience, the rooms with activity may be uncleaned or cluttered. Fight back and remove chaos. Clean the house. Cleanliness is NEXT to GODLINESS!!!! God is order and clean. The demonic are disorder, chaos and a filthy home!
During this time start looking for churches who may be able to assist you. If you're looking for help from a church be willing to work with them. If you're not a follower of Jesus and the church is more interested in having you take the salvation prayer then assisting you you need to keep looking for a church. The right church will work with you, but you must be willing to work with them. If they come in and pray and then you call a psychic and a paranormal team and your activity escalates - don't blame the church! You just shot yourself in the foot.
If you're a church asked by such an individual for help, i.e., they're pagan or New Age, Jesus is big enough to handle this situation. He is going to show the individual his awesome power and most of all love. Just give the situation some slack and let Jesus do his job. Jesus is working with them where their at and their own timing - not yours!
Have some people from the church come over and worship in your living room. Have them pray with you. Make sure you have a few of the church prayer warriors on your team.
House Blessing
I recommend blessing the house yourself. I provide a detailed description in my book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare. The demon is kicked out by YOU!!!! You have dominion over the demonic. What do I mean by that? Go rent the Passion. I think it is on Netflix and even youtube. When Jesus was crucified he took back the dominion over the earth from his enemy and he gave it back to us. That demon that is attacking you violently, must answer to you - in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Wow. You never heard that come out of Amy Allan's mouth! I am only giving advice to those who are living in a nightmare. If you're a follower of Jesus don't go out looking for a fight with the demonic. All the hundreds of battles I have been involved in - Jesus brought to me. I never went out looking for a demonic battle. Some popular preachers are dangerously encouraging people to go out and pick a fight with the second heaven. But that's another blog I need to write.
Demonic Fights Back - It's Spiritual Warfare!
The demonic will fight back. It's called spiritual warfare. 90% of Christians (in America) are inexperienced in spiritual warfare. You need to put a team together around you and engage the demonic through a team of intercessors.
You need to walk your land and anoint it with anointing oil or olive oil. Bless the olive oil by asking the Holy Spirit to anoint your grocery store bought olive oil. Walk around the house and anoint doorways, windows and walls (see A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare...).
Don't burn sage, or spread rock salt. That is all gypsy nonsense. Don't RC priests use sacraments? Yes they do. But they are using it as a part of the mass for the Rite of Exorcism. When a medium does it, it is a more of spell that lacks the power of Jesus Christ being involved. But wait a minute! Don't psychics use Jesus name. Yes they do. Jesus shows up for his kids. He was crucified for everyone! The reason he shows up is because He wants us to know he is real!!! Jesus will take on the demonic? That's not the message I've been seeing on paranormal shows. Well, these shows are dangerous and many well meaning people have been demonized from following these reality stars as examples.
I have seen incredible miracles time after time in our battles with the demonic. It is not because I am saint with a special anointing it is because I know Jesus wants to make himself real. Satan is the producer of reality tv so you'll never see an incredible miracle of Jesus whooping a demon on tv!
Finding Help
As long as you are in battle continue to look for help! You may be in luck and be near a diocese with an exorcist or a local church with a deliverance minister or an exorcist. The head start I can give you is to avoid psychics, paranormal teams, and anything para.... And most of all avoid charlatan exorcists. There are a lot of quack pots out there. Your safe bet is call the local diocese.
If you don't believe in God, you must ask yourself, what is His enemy doing in your house??? On another note, some Christians out there won't call a Catholic church because they have been deceived into believing the Catholic church is the arm of Satan. If you are in this doctrine of mind you need to seriously re-evaluate which Jesus you are listening to. The same true Jesus, the Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit are present in both the protestant and the Catholic church. These churches combine to make the body of Christ! Us!

It amazes me how many Christians forget their faith when it comes to haunted residences. If you arrived at my blog by GOOGLE-ing house blessing and are at your wits end over a haunting in your home, then pour yourself a cup of coffee, sit down, relax, and read through what I have to share with you.
For starters, I work primarily with Christians, not because I am biased, but because those are the people who primarily come to M16 Ministries. Our team has worked with everyone, New Agers, pagans, and assisted homosexual believers in spiritual warfare. There is a strong bias that Christians won't help others, non-believers in the faith, in their time of need. Not so, I found the opposite to be true, that there is a reverse bias in asking a Christian for help in spiritual matters. I once spoke with a ghost hunter in San Francisco, and told him I was a Christian exorcist. The conversation abruptly ended. The other irony, is that we tend to help people for free. I had a conversation with a psychic who spiritually cleanses homes, at a psychic fair. He said he charges $1000 per home in the bay area and doesn't deal with non-human spirits (demons). This guy had a long list of people signed up for his services. Our ministry does exorcisms, and we deal with "non-human spirits" for free. That's right. We don't make a dime off exorcisms. A majority of the funding from our ministry comes from people who support us through love offerings. Yes, I am also and author and a speaker, but you don't get rich on that either. So why do what I do? God drafted me into this ministry and he broke my heart to help those who are being oppressed. Now with a very small ministry team it is impossible to assist everyone who comes to us. Which is why I write blogs, books, and speak. I need to equip you in spiritual warfare and separate what is commonly accepted spiritist malarchy and what is truth. There are a lot of exorcist charlatans out there -so BEWARE!!! Basically, if you land on a website of a person who is holding out a big cross and looks more like a vampire slayer then a normal person -it's most likely a charlatan. And there are a lot out there.
If you found yourself at this blog, because the ghost hunters have come and gone. They have posted the EVPs found at your home on their youtube channel. The psychics have come, spoke to the native American spirit residing in your home, and they performed their sage cleansing, told you your toddler was clairvoyent, which is why they see spirits, and then left. HOWEVER - you are still having nightmarish activity in what you once thought was your dream home. Am I on par with your predicament so far?
By this point you are at wits end. The spirits in your home have oppressed you and they have torn your family or your relationship apart. You simply want everything in your home to stop and you want your life back, NOW!
It doesn't matter what your spiritual background is at this point. Pagan, Buddhist, Kabbalah, Mormon, Jehovah Witness, Presbyterian, Catholic or Assembly of God. What you need to realize at this point is what the truth is in your situation. The truth is, the psychic was deceived by a spirit and he-she relayed the lie the spirit wanted you to perceive to keep you in your state of frustration and brokenness. This is called spiritual bondage. The spirit needs to keep you obsessed with the activity going on to oppress you. Oppression is a horrible thing and it can push you to the point of temporary insanity or to the point where the spirit can try to occupy you and use you. At this point in the battle you are broken. The spirit is whipping you into submission.
Now for the truth. That isn't a native American spirit haunting your home. It's a demon. If I had a nickel for every time I went into a haunting and the (Christian) owner told me a psychic told them it was a native American spirit, I would have $5 in a jar. This is tactical information for me and my team. We will walk through the house and discern it is a demonic spirit of witchcraft and the false information from the psychic will help collaborate the teams findings.
When we work with individuals in this situation we start with aligning their spiritual life to Jesus. Not the false Jesus found in splinter New Age churches, but the one true Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Whoa! Reverend Mike, your getting a bit religious on us here! Tone it down!
When dealing with the demonic you must call on the one true God. The demons can send you a false Jesus and really mess with you and your warfare. Up until this point, you have not been in warfare with the spirits. When the ghost hunters and psychic came to your house, you were unwittingly aiding and abetting the enemy within. Yes, through your own actions you were feeding your own torment. Does this make sense to you?
When spiritual warfare starts you must be working with the one true God, Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. If you are a New Ager, or a pagan, or even a Christian, and you are getting crushed by the forces of darkness in your own home, call on Jesus. Forget about what others are telling you and what you SHOULD be doing based on your faith. Obviously, if what you were doing was right, this nightmare would have ended by now. RIGHT? Also keep in mind your own faith practices could be the source of the demonic activity. There is no difference between white magic and dark magic. The only difference is that the practicer of white magic has been deceived and is still practicing dark magic. If everything else you tried has failed -then Jesus is excited about coming to help you.
Step One. Go somewhere private, away from the haunting, or defiled site, and call on Jesus. Speak with him like he is right there with you. If you are not a believer in Christ, but you found yourself to this point, here is what our team would do if you asked us to help you. Remember this is a personal decision and it can't be shoved down your throat, my God doesn't work that way. God is gentle and he wants you to invite him into your situation. We would pray with you, regardless of your faith, the following prayer for help. If a spirit manifests through you because of the haunting, have someone who understands what you're going through sit down with you and help you read this prayer. Many times we find people who are demonically oppressed can't read through this prayer. If you have a Christian friend who isn't RELIGIOUS and isn't ready to convert you on the spot, have them help you. Don't let them convert you. This is a process, and right now, this is a cry for help! All we are asking is for Jesus to come make himself real to you and help you.
A Prayer for Help:
Dear Jesus, my heart is wounded and I am oppressed by your enemies. I don't know what to believe at this point. My prayer from my heart is that you show me you are real. I ask you Jesus to show me in my situation that you are the creator of the universe, you are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I ask you to help me and heal me. To bind the lying spirits in my life who are oppressing me. I ask you to send the Spirit of Truth to help me see the truth and to help me in my condition. Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, I invite you into my condition and I am asking you to help me.
If, during this prayer, or after, you find yourself crying and maybe getting a bit angry at God, that is okay to. The most powerful prayers are through your tears.
Once you have made this prayer keep talking to Jesus as you go about your day. You may not be experienced in prayer, but God will reveal himself in battle. As your heart has called out for God, go home and bless your home. Sometimes a priest won't come out and bless your home if your not a Christian. But don't worry about that. What kicks a demons ass is your heart turning to God. A house blessing is useless if your heart isn't inviting Jesus into your house. There is no methodology for blessing a home. Walk your hurt heart through your home and show Jesus where it hurts you in your house. Ask for his peace to come into your house. Ask for the light of Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, to come into your house. Ask him to push out the darkness and seal up your home. At this point you have now entered into spiritual warfare. All the time and nightmare before this was oppression and not warfare.
What is in your house are not disembodied human spirits. They are demons. A spiritual war has been going on since before the history of the universe itself. A group of high ranking angels chose to rebel against God. They were thrown out of heaven and exiled on earth until their day of judgment. This is what is making you sick in your house. This is what is tormenting you at night.The demons are the shadows the ghost hunting team caught on video and whose voices are on EVPs. Yes, what you thought you knew about the spirit realm is wrong.
Now as you bless your house, Christian and non-believer, alike, walk through your home and ask the Spirit of Truth to reveal to you what is in defilement in your home. You will be surprised what is revealed. One Halloween, we were assisting an individual in spiritual warfare, they were being attacked by demonic spirits. The individual was reaching out to God, but the warfare continued because they were renting a room from a person whose home contained movies that were in defilement - Twilight, horror flicks as well as pornography. The home owner was in agreement to defilement of their own home. The home owner was also in rebellion to the will of God and had sex partners sleep over at the house. This made for a situation that was difficult to contain. I have also been on the site of a haunting where a Christian was sleeping with his girl friend in the house. We couldn't assist this individual because what he was doing was wrong in the eyes of God. He knew it and he didn't feel it was necessary to abide to God's will in this matter. As you walk through your home, look to see what is in defilement and get rid of it. This is a process. You are tuning into the will of Jesus Christ, Lord of Lord, King of Kings. Let him help you, it will take time. The demonic will recognize your attempts to ask Jesus for help and the warfare will really start in your home. When the clash starts, take this as a sign as the demons are in fear and don't like the fact you called on the one true God. They're incapable of defeating God and they know they're haunting days at your home are now numbered.
Gosh Rev. Mike. I thought this was a blog on house blessing. It is. Your body is your house. It's where you live 7 days/ week x24 hrs/ day x365 days/ year. Bless your home and make it impenetrable to the demonic. As your heart becomes blessed you will leak out into your house. This is the nuclear weapon against the demonic. M16 Ministries has worked with nearly 500 people in cases of demonic activity. Many times we find that when we go to a haunted residence, it is the person in the residence that is haunted. True they moved into a defiled property, over time, they got slimed and the property defiled them. The cleansing of the land must come from within. Even Christians don't get this part of warfare. It's the change of heart that nukes demons. I teach classes on deliverance ministry and from time to time I get those individuals who puke religious doctrine on me on how I should cast out demons. You should see some of the wacky e-mails I get. Over doctrinal religion is a form of demonic bondage.
Jesus is all about being set free. If you're in bondage in what was once your dream home. Take action. Your heart is spiritual in design and it knows how to contact Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. After all, your creator designed it that way.

There are a lot of books out there on spiritual warfare, but very few offer any good insight on the practical side of deliverance. It's a hot topic in religious reading so publishers are going to fill the market. What the market is filled with in top selling books and what actually goes on in intense prayer sessions are two completely separate topics.
Very few ministers are truly involved in exorcisms. What is an exorcism? I am a non-Catholic exorcist, which means I don't use 'The Rite'. I use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in warfare. Yes, the Catholics do to, they call these ministers charismatics. From my point of view, an exorcism is the expulsion of demons in what is identified as a true demonic possession. 99% of the demonic activity and manifestations most Christians have seen are what are known as demonic oppressions. A demon can manifest in a Christian and speak through them. A deliverance prayer team can evict this/these unclean spirit(s) because the individual is requesting prayer to be set free from them.
In demonic possession, which is difficult to diagnose (to the average deliverance minister), requires a lot more background and expertise. When our ministry is involved in a case of demonic possession, we already have some medical professionals involved who had aided in the diagnoses and medically deemed the situation to be spiritual in nature. A person may look and act demonically possessed but could simply be mentally sick. Their mind is broken. We commonly work with people that have dissociative identity disorder. You need spiritual discernment to determine what is an alter (an alternate identity) and which is a demonic presence. When we work with DID, there are both alters and demonic spirits, and the team has the discernment to tell the difference between the two.
In cases of demonic possession, the individual will not allow you to pray for them. All too often there are the horror stories that I have heard where an inexperienced deliverance team will hold someone down and try to cast a demon out of a possessed person. Then get tossed across the room in the process.
The individual that is possessed must want to be set free from their demonic prison. And they're not going to let you reason with them about wanting to be set free. There will be too many voices in their head and around them mocking every word you say.
This is where intercessory prayer comes in. For starters, you must pray to have yourself released into battle. And if you do make this prayer, you are certain of your prophetic gifting and that you hear God clearly. You are certain in your faith and you know how to pull down from the heavenly realm. You must also be a person who has their life in order and your family isn't dysfunctional at home. You must lead a life that is built on a strong relationship with Jesus. You will be a person who is free from bondage and can immediately identify demonic oppression as it is thrown at you. This is warfare. Demons fight back and bite back! If you're experiencing extreme warfare on your team it may be because you stepped out the covering and will of the heavenly Father. Be careful this doesn't happen to your team!You are a mature prayer warrior and understand the battlefield. You don't immediately start your prayers by binding regional principalities. Instead, you consult Jesus and the Heavenly Father for a battle plan. Jesus will heal this person from possession. Not you and your book on routing demons! You must listen clearly to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
You must be a member of a prayer team that works in unity for this intercession. You must be a person who is not closely associated to the possessed or the family. You will have limited contact with all individuals involved. All your information will come in through intercession and you will pray as the Holy Spirit directs you. On occasion, you will receive information from the family of the possessed on the individuals status. Don't rely on the status. Rely on what the Holy Spirit is telling the prayer team. Furthermore, don't get caught up in the chaos and drama coming from the person reporting the information. Many times Christians who don't belong in the battle get caught up in the fight for the excitement of battling demons. They will ignorantly and emotionally direct you how to pray. The demons will use these people to irritate, distract and even control your prayer team. If you allow these people to carry on like this your intercessor prayer team will be compromised. Stay out of the drama and focus on the time with Jesus.
Covert prayer ministry is the best approach to minimize outside influence. Never discuss the prayer ministry with anyone outside the prayer team. The information is confidential and it's disrespectful to the person who is in your pastoral care.
How long should intercession last? Many Christians get frustrated after praying for two weeks and give up. Intercession for exorcism can take months! If not longer. The purpose of the intercession is to turn the person's heart back to Jesus and pray for breakthrough for them to have a Jesus encounter. The exorcism can't be done unless the person willfully turns back to Jesus and wants the spirits driven out. Jesus knows how to deal with his own enemies. Jesus also knows it will take time to turn the demonically possessed person around. Jesus respects free will even to the point of it leading to one's demise. The person possessed must choose to turn to Jesus under their own free will.
Intercession will last up until there is a spiritual break through. The intercessor team that is listening to the Holy Spirit will all receive the same information on when to switch from intercession and move to evicting the spirit.
Intercession for an exorcism requires mature Christians, who are not doctrinal in their walk with Jesus. People on intercessor prayer teams were literally drafted by God and very seldom do people find themselves on these intense prayer teams because they felt called into it. The intercessor must understand that God is big enough to handle this situation while we only step in and work under his will and movement. Not our own battle plan!
This is not something to play around with and try. You must be a seasoned spiritual warrior who understands the enemy can manifest and inflict both spiritual and physical harm to the prayer team. The prayer team must understand to the spiritual nature of spirits of suicide and how they operate during the season of intercession. It is intense and it is not something for church intercessor team to take on.

Yet another paranormal show has surfaced in the reality tv world. The show's name is Ghostland Tennessee, which aired this last weekend on Animal Planet HD. Again, why are there ghost hunting shows on Animal Planet?
What really caught my attention about this show is another (scripted) reality show that fuses two money making reality shows together. In this case, Ghostland Tennessee is Ghost Hunters meets Duck Dynasty. I kind of wish they wrote Si into the script. The show would have been more entertaining. Which is what this is ...entertainment.
The fact that the individuals in this show portray themselves as Christians raises alarms and this show needs to go through the Biblical spiritual warfare dissection.

It's been some time since I updated this blog. M16 Ministries has been pretty busy the past couple of months. A lot of NEW paranormal shows have popped up recently. My favorite is Ghost Mine. That one has got to be a mocumentary. Ghost Mine combines Ghost Hunters with the popular Alaska gold shows that are on now. Ghost Mine even includes the same haunting narrator from the I Shouldn't Be Alive shows. You know the one. He always narrates the disasters. "What Pappa Smurf doesn't know right now is that his 8 year old niece has fallen down a well." Then there is the lead paranormal investigator who screams every time she sees a ghost. Whoever wrote Ghost Mine left no stone unturned when they scripted these episodes.
Anyhow, enough of Ghost Mine, I am here to discuss the new show on Destination America, The Paranormal Project. There was a lot going in this show so I decided to video blog it and save myself some time in writing this all up. I took a particular interest in this show because it presumably documents some demonic activity in the town of Clovis. Within driving distance <road trip actually> to the M16 bunker.

Some good information is finally surfacing from paranormal shows on what to do with demonically infested homes. I was watching the show, A Haunting, titled Angels and Demons, air date 10/19/2012.
No I am not going soft on these shows. Despite some improvement in dealing with spirits they're still classic shows on How NOT To spiritually cleanse a house. What always strikes me about these shows is that about a third of the shows feature Christian families, who know very little about their own God and faith. What is highlighted in these shows is how very little American Christians really know about the one true God. We have been sucked into a world of spiritual correctness as our governing bodies try to remove God from the country. Christians falling into spiritual correctness believe there is more than one way to heaven. They also have allowed spiritist views to creep into their spirituality. And this episode of, A Haunting, clearly points out this alarming trend. What is particularly interesting about this episode is how God steers the people under attack back under his wing of protection. Despite their messed up theology, God is merciful, gracious, and victorious in the end.
This episode features a single, whom later gets married in the middle of the show, Kathy Sheets, in the fall of 2010, in Arnold, Maryland. Kathy and her son move into a home that has demonic activity occurring inside it, even as they move in to the place. So this sets up the scene time and setting of the episode, Angels and Demons.
Christians Seeking Spiritist
This one kills me every time in these shows. We see a person who is portrayed as being a Christian, and the first sign of supernatural activity they run for help to a psychic. NO!!!!
Isaiah 8:19
19 When they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter," should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
In Deuteronomy 18:9-12,
9 "When you enter the land in which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who casts a spell, or a mediu,, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.
Now let's take a look at how Kathy handles the demonic visitation. She goes to her friend the psychic. What???? How does a Christian even fathom, a psychic, or Tarot cards, which even this show calls messing with the occult, a good idea? I am not picking on Kathy. I am pointing out the same lack of core spirituality and foundation in Jesus Christ that we see in 2/3 of the cases we work with regarding demonic activity.
The show narrator says, "Some Tarot cards represent fallen angels who become demons" What??? Fallen angels are demons! This is not a Christian lifestyle. We do not consult mediums and demons. When we work with people in this situation we make them break off all contact with their psychics. Psychics actually make the situation worse in demonic activity cases. They can load you up with more demons and they believe the whole time they are helping you. Some people we have worked with in ministry were too obsessed to break off contact with their psychics so we ceased to assist them any further. You can't go to God for help and sneak out the back door and ask satan for help. It's like asking a drug pusher to help you break free of your addiction.
Visitation By Angels
It's not uncommon for a person to see an angel in the midst of demonic attack. Many of the times I have seen angels was either in the middle of spiritual warfare or a week or so after a real nasty battle. God is a God of balance. If we see lots of evil, during warfare he may let us see some of his calvary. Again, we have our friend Kathy, who has demonic visitations in her house. Then one day, God shows her he is with her. He reveals one of his angels. In this case, I believe, God knew Kathy had a weak spiritual foundation in her faith so He came to her and revealed one of his holy angels.
When a person sees something like this, it is called mystical theology. God shows up to us and shows us wondrous things. St. Teresa of Avila called these imaginary visions. It's when God literally takes over our facilities and senses and imprints the vision into our mind. They're incredible and they are given out to those God chooses. In this case, God was sending a message to Kathy he was going to help her.
Psychics and Spirit Guides
Kathy has a wonderful, mystical experience from God and she runs to see her friend - the psychic! Do you just want to scream at this point? Ok - grace. We know God is working on Kathy and He is steering her back to him. We'll be patient. But listen to how badly the psychic misses the mystical event. This is clip proof psychics aren't on the same wavelength as God.
The psychic, "I believe what you saw is your spirit guide."
Kathy, "An angel?"
The psychic, "If you want to call it that..."
Can you see how the psychic is receiving demonic and deceiving information? God sent Kathy a marvelous calling card with a vision of an angel of the Lord. But the psychic knocks it down to a spirit guide. Demons use psychics to help feed misinformation and disbelief. A spirit guide, in the psychics terms in not an angel, but a deceased spirit. Which is lesser than an angel. So subconsciously, the psychic is now stripping Kathy of her mystical experience.
Be advised, too, that our ministry is being told more often now about Christian psychics who talk to angels and God and offer paid services. And Christians are getting sucked into this abomination. You don't need to pay a psychic to talk to God. That is why the veil was torn in the temple. You can talk to God and you can talk to him for free. As for talking to angels. That's a dangerous slope. If divination is an abomination to God, what kind of angels do you think are talking to psychics? DEMONS!!!
Fire Alarms!
For those of you who have heard Lisa and I share our battlefield experiences, you know about our fire alarm stories. In the early days when we went into warfare prayer, the enemy would always trip our fire alarms to stop us from praying. We've got fire alarm stories. When I saw this I couldn't resist placing Kathy's fire alarm story in this blog too.
Keep in mind when you bless your home or you go into warfare, the enemy loves electrical components. Fire alarms, stereos, televisions, radios, and even car fuel injection systems. Been there done that! Many times look at it as a reaction because the demons won't let you know they're getting pelted by you. Common warfare tactics is that they're going to present their status as being all swell and no dents from your spiritual Louisville slugger.
Our Father
Now we're getting into the good clips of this show. Finally, the people are fighting back. And what is working? God!!! In this scene, Kathy is being attacked by an unseen entity in her car. It's the spiritual authority of her son, simply praying Our Father, the Lord's Prayer, from Matthew 6. A teenager stands up to the demon and breaks off the attack!
When people work with our ministry we instruct them to "bind the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ". And then we would have them order to release the person. "In the name of Jesus Christ, release my Mom. Now!"
The Lord's prayer works equally as well. But the demon struggles more because the strong man is yet to be bound. In my early days, before I knew anything about spiritual warfare I had a similar experience where I fought off a demonic attack on me using the Our Father prayer. If you know nothing else, use the Our Father!
In situations like this, you must learn to fight back on your own. No one else can help you. A deliverance team or an exorcist can help you. But it all boils done to throwing the problem to the foot of the cross of Jesus and binding it there. People that run to us with the help me, help me attitude and don't learn to fight or trust in Jesus - seldom win these battles.
Sometimes You Gotta Snap
Okay. Now I am starting to root for team Kathy. She's abandon her psychic and has relied on the information God is giving her. That's right. Kathy doesn't understand it yet, but God is talking over the fight here. We see Kathy becoming the spiritual leader of her family and God is working through her. This is exactly how you deal with the demonic. This is what we would instruct Kathy to do if she contacted our ministry. This is how you bring God, armed with nukes, to a demonic knife fight. It sounds like a lame metaphor, but it's the truth!
What this clip depicts is Kathy developing her spiritual spine and standing in her God given authority. When the demon manifested, it just stared at her to scare her. It's the crap they pull. It's warfare! What's interesting is that the demons didn't try to hurt her. I believe heaven was already on the scene. And having Kathy mentally snap, so to speak, in warfare mode, clearly displayed to the demons she chose to fight them. A+ battlefield tactics to Kathy here. She did what M16 would have instructed her to do. People that have worked with me and are reading this blog probably recognize my "sometimes you gotta snap". Another I put it to those being tormented by demonic nightmares is to "embrace the inner spiritual HULK and smash!"
Warfare prayer isn't petitioning prayer to God. It's warfare, and it's directed at Satan and his army. God's enemy. It isn't what one of my ministry friends would call mamby-pamby praying. It's all out assault on the demonic through prayer.
A few years back I had a demonic manifestation in my house when we were working on a demonic possession case. Much like what Kathy had. I bolted out of my bed and told the spirit to get the HELL out of my house. And you know what? It did! We have authority over the demonic. See Luke 10 if you don't believe me.
Making a Stand Against the Forces of Darkness
Kathy now takes the final stand against the forces of darkness. This is A+ M16 spiritual warfare. It is effective for Kathy because she is in no danger of being possessed at the moment. She has been tormented and attacked. Now her momma bear, warring spirit has taken over and she is going to get her house back and everything the enemy has taken from her. This is the most effective form of spiritual warfare and house cleansing. She has been given a vision of an angelic presence from God, so she knows God is in the fight. Quite frankly, Kathy has better spiritual reception than her psychic friend. Whether she knows it or not, she is now receiving her battle intel directly from God.
In this case, I know Kathy's house will be free of the demonic infestation. I also believe she has developed a deeper spiritual understanding and relationship with God through this event. Despite Kathy being spiritually misguided. God came crashing through to help her.

The most highly requested information
for my ministry, M16 Ministries, is for house blessing. We have been
involved in a broad spectrum of spiritual cases requiring house
blessing. We have been to houses where violent crimes have occurred
all the way to the other extreme where we dealt with a house with a
demonic legion in it. I can't say that we've seen it all, but we've
certainly seen a lot.
During a missions trip to Guyana, South
America, my close friend, Mark Neitz, of WhyNotNow
Ministries, and I were called out to bless a home where spiritual
activity was taking place. We were staying in Guyana at our
missionary friends' house of Don and Maria Whitney. One hot
afternoon, while we were at Don and Maria's, we were preparing for
our 4 day trip into the Guyanese interior (the rain forest) to meet
with Amer Indian pastors. A pastor came to the Whitney's house and
requested Don, Mark and myself (Michael), to come out with him to
bless a house. A woman, recently widowed, was in need of deliverance
prayer and her house needed blessing. The three of us were in our
shorts and t-shirts, it was hot. But we figured we were adequately
dressed for deliverance and house blessing. What did catch my
attention was that the pastor was dressed in his Sunday best. It was
hot but I figured this pastor just stayed in uniform all week long.
Don, Mark and I got into the pastor's little Toyota car and off we
went for a house blessing.
When we pulled up to the house we were
supposed to bless, we noticed a large number of people already there.
They, too, were dressed in their Sunday best and this was the middle
of the work week. It didn't take long for Don, Mark and I to figure
out that something was wrong with this picture. Mark boldly asked the
pastor, “hey, what is going on?”.
The pastor replied, “It's a 9th day
funeral.”
A 9th day funeral is
literally a funeral held 9 days after a person dies. It gives family
members the opportunity to get their lives in order and make travel
arrangements to get to the funeral. In Guyana, the biggest method of
transportation is by boat. Some have power boats and some have
canoes. Nine days is adequate time for the word to get out and for
the family members to make it to the funeral.
I became more uneasy with the situation
as we got out of the pastor's car. The Holy Spirit started giving me
things to speak on at a funeral. I looked over at Mark and told him,
if we get led up to the front of the people – I think we're doing
this funeral. Mark looked at me and grimaced, “I was thinking the
same thing.”
Low and behold the pastor led us to the
front of the families and introduced us as pastors. And yes we did an
impromptu funeral. In our shorts and t-shirts. When the funeral was
done, the pastor led the widow up to the front where we were and
asked us to pray deliverance prayer. I didn't like this one bit.
Deliverance prayer is personal and I don't do it in front of an
audience. So I gave the woman a quick blessing and whispered to her
that we needed to pray in private after this was over.
When the opportunity lent itself, and
the family members had expressed their condolences, Don, Mark, the
pastor, and I were able to go into the house with the widow and bless
it. I had the woman tell me what was happening in the house. The
house itself was small, maybe 20x20, two rooms, built up on cement
stilts. The woman proceeded to tell me how a hindu god (a demon)
would come at night, manifest at their front door and terrify the
family. I was then informed that one night the activity was so
horrifying her husband dropped dead of a heart attack.
I asked the woman how she knew it was a
hindu demon. She said because her family's fields were blessed by
hindus. And her and her husband were hindu followers before they
became followers of Jesus a year ago. And that is when the activity
started. The four of us proceeded to bless the house and prayed over
it in the blood of Christ. We blessed the doorways, the windows and
the four corners of the house. We instructed the pastor on how to
work with this woman in keeping the spirit from returning.
M16 Ministries gets requests from all
over the world. Especially, from areas where witchcraft is prevalent.
How do I protect my house from witches next door to me? This is a
pretty common question. But that question is a double-edged sword
that frequently requires discernment. Either the person requesting
help is actually in need of help from a battle with the occult, or
the person is in a spiritual battle where they are being deceived
into believing they are under attack by the occult.
In any case, it doesn't hurt to simply
bless your house! If you are a follower of Jesus you should bless
your house often just to make your mansion a pleasing abode for the
creator of the universe. Since I am in spiritual warfare I frequently
bless my home. Many weary people step through the threshold of my
front door and the first thing they always comment on is the peace in
the house. We keep the spiritual blessing at a constant setting in
our home. Regardless if you are under a spiritual attack or just
wanting the peace of Jesus to descend on your home, bless it!
For starters, if your house is a mess
and in complete chaos. Clean it! Hey, I have teenagers and my house
can look worse that tornado stricken mobile home in seconds. FEMA
doesn't cover teenagers, so we train the kids to routinely clean up.
If you can't take normal steps down your hallway and you have to leap
and jump to open spaces of carpet – it is time to clean your home!
Step One – Clean the House
Step one of house blessing is cleaning
and spring (seasonal cleaning). Get rid of stuff you no longer need.
Also, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you items you need to get rid
of. You may be surprised what turns up. And you may stumble upon an
item that spirits are attached too.
You're scratching your head right now
and saying, gosh, my problem is paranormal and this doesn't make an
ounce of sense. That's because you watch too much reality tv. The
stuff on the paranormal shows is all bovine excrement. You are better
off getting your advice from Jersey Shores. M16 Ministries is the
team that gets called in after the paranormal investigators and
demonologists fail. It's all New Age and spiritist mojo that doesn't
work!!! If you truly have spiritual activity in your home it is a
demon. It is not a ghost or a wraith or some other thing having its
roots in spiritist and New Age lore.
Again. Step one – clean your house.
Make it pleasing to yourself and the God most high. We're calling in
the big guns. The capital-G God and not the lower case g (which are
actually demons). Clean house! No psychics, no paranormal team and no
paranormal clergy!!! This is a supernatural problem!
If you feel weird in any one room of
the house make note of it while you are cleaning everything out. Get
an idea of what the spirits are attached to in the house. Make note
of it. We're cleaning right now. If you're a follower of Jesus put on
some Elijah streams soaking music.
Psalm 149, worship is a double-edged sword that puts kings in chains! 5 Let
the godly ones exult in glory; Let
them sing for joy on their beds. 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And
a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 To
execute vengeance on the nations And
punishment on the peoples, 8 To
bind their kings with chains And
their nobles with fetters of iron, 9 To
execute on them the judgment written; This
is an honor for all His godly ones. Praise
the Lord! Psalm
149:5-9
This will be the spiritual beating of
the battle drums off in the distance. If you're going to war in your
house -start the singing and praising! Jesus is going to do something
about the situation you are in.
If you are New Age or any other faith
or belief and you are stuck in a really tight spot that requires a
house blessing. Do the same as I instruct here. Jesus will answer you
when you call to him. He wants to reveal to you that he does care
about you. Forget the hate speech from your local self-appointed
religious experts, they don't speak for him. Jesus is powerful
enough to speak on his own behalf. If you are under a spiritual
attack – call on him.
Step Two Bless the House
Very important you follow this
guideline at this point. No psychics, no paranormal teams, and no
paranormal clergy! Now let's proceed.
The paranormal tv shows love to bless a
house in the dark. Why??? Do demons sleep during the day? All my
battles have carried out during the day. I don't fight on demons
time, I fight on my time. I am not at their beck and call. So I kick
them out during the day. America has been spoon fed bovine excrement
by paranormal tv shows! My team doesn't “Go Dark”, or have “Dead
time.” or do EVP sweeps or use spirit boxes. These are all
seances. M16 Ministries doesn't do seances we do evictions!
If you go to church, pick a nice Sunday
afternoon after church and invite a few church friends over.
Preferably, some mature followers of Jesus who won't be afraid of a
spirit manifestation. Believe me, I know these people are hard to find.
But if you have them at your church, bring them on your team for a
praise and worship setting at your house. I strongly recommend it at
your house where the battle will take place. If the activity is too
intense. Start the praise and worship at your church and then move
the party over to your house for the cleansing.
If it is your house that has activity I
recommend appointing someone to be a prayer leader at your blessing.
Why? Because if a spirit is attached to you, you will unwittingly be
steered away from the areas that need blessing. Yes. The spirit will
use you as the distraction. A prayer leader will lead the session and
you will follow them. You will, however, stand in your spiritual
authority with them. Having a prayer leader is also beneficial in the
event the spirit manifests in you or one of your family members. This
is spiritual warfare and stuff happens! Never ever bless your own
home alone if it is a spiritual war zone.
Pick up some anointing oil. If you
don't have some, just buy some olive oil and have your team pray over
it and bless it. I recommend that you turn on spiritual music at this
time too. Let it play low as background music.
If it is your house you must stand in
your spiritual authority. Pray over and bless the people on your
team. If you have a prayer warrior, have them pray and bless the team
members for protection. If you know someone who is operating in the
gifts of the spirit have them prophetically speak over your team.
Now you are ready for battle. Start in
the front room of the house where the front entrance to the house is.
Step outside to face the threshold of the front door and pray over
the front door. I like using the method Moses described in Exodus 12,
for anointing doorways. 7 Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.Exodus
12:7 We wont be applying lambs blood, remember Jesus was the final
sacrifice. We will apply dabs of olive oil onto the doorframe. At the
top of the door frame I draw a small cross with my finger dipped in
olive oil. The two side frames I swipe with olive oil like the
Hebrews did on their door jams.
Front Door Blessing Prayer:
1 Holy Spirit we turn this house over to you. 2 We invite you into this house and we pray over this house with the blood of Jesus Christ. 3 I bind darkness from entering this door. 4 Only the light of Jesus Christ may enter. 5 We expel the enemy from this house in the name of Jesus.
In the front room, declare your victory over the spirits. Read Revelation 20:7-10. You will start in the front room and systematically move through the entire house. Evil spirits that claim Jesus is a myth seem to always go berserk over that scripture. Inside the house, in the first room, read Psalm 91.
Bless all doors inside the house, including closets and basement doors too. Bless all the windows and the attic and the basement. Move slowly through the house and let the Holy Spirit guide you. When the Holy Spirit is with you, there is a supernatural protection you can feel. It literally is a tangible feeling You must not give in to fear and unbelief which is a weapon of the enemy.

Blessing windows:
1 I bind darkness from entering this window. 2 Only the light of Jesus Christ may enter. 3 We expel the enemy from this house in the name of Jesus. Bless the property line. Walk your property line and anoint the fence on the four corners of the compass. Take your anointing oil and draw a cross with your finger on the four compass corners of your land. Read Joshua 6:1-6 in the Bible about tearing down strongholds. I have kept the prayers pretty simple for people trying to bless their own homes. Be slow and methodical and pray through each room. Take time in each room and listen to what the Holy Spirit is telling you.
Step 3 Dealing with Manifestations
Now what happens when the magic show starts? You hear a growl, clawing, or a chair slides across the floor in front of you. You got the spirit's attention. It is fighting back using fear. When objects move shut it down immediately.
“I bind you from moving my stuff. I own this property and I own this house and I demand you leave now and go where the Holy Spirit tells you to go! In the name of Jesus Christ!”
Whatever you do -don't play exorcist. I have seen too many times in the middle of my deliverance sessions where a spouse decides to jump in and help me. It's always a binder with exorcist prayers and it is nothing more than a distraction when it is read by the untrained! No exorcism. Period!
The battle is all about you no longer fearing the unclean spirit. You have the authority over evil spirits handed to you by Jesus Christ and his work on the cross.
I have been in numerous situations where I confronted the spirit based on the intel the Holy Spirit was telling me. I was in a house where a psychic woman was channeling legion. She was not Christian, of another faith, and a foreign national. She had no idea what legion was other than it was making her life a living hell. Yet, she didn't want to part with it because it gave her psychic abilities. Be aware of these things too when blessing a house. And don't ever cast demons out of a person that doesn't want them gone.
This is where my wife and I have to come in and clean up after paranormal investigators because they casted demons out of people who weren't willing to have their demons cast out. Yes, there are people who want their demons and yet can't figure out why they're in torment. Anyhow, while my wife and I were working with the psychic, I heard from the Holy Spirit, the spiritual portal was upstairs in an empty bedroom's closet. So I walked up there and sat down, indian style on the carpet, in that room and stared at the closet and prayed in the language of the Holy Spirit. The spirits didn't touch me. The oppression was so thick in that room you could have cut it with a knife. The spirits didn't try to do anything to me other than they wanted me out of the room. The woman manifested downstairs with my wife and the psychic let out a scream. I have encountered legion numerous times and they know that I know they're fallen angels. I also know they must obey God.
I don't do anything stupid during warfare. I know how to listen to the Holy Spirit during battle. The point to get across here is that demons are not a ying and yang thing with God. Demons are not the evil equal to God. God is omnipotent and powerful. Demons are creations of God and they have powers, but they're limited. When you understand this in battle, it makes all the difference in the world.
Now if a person manifests during the prayer session, it is an attempt by the spirit to shutdown the prayer walk. It means your efforts are working and the spirits are trying to stop you from finishing. Several things are now possible when a manifestation occurs. One, the spirit feels they have a legal right to the family for some strange reason. It could be they have freemason or witchcraft in their background. Those are examples. We don't know. The prayer leader must discern if the spirit attacks are focused on one family member. If they are there is an attachment that must be broken. This is difficult because now we are dealing with past sins that must be addressed and we're talking about deliverance prayer session which is different from a house blessing. I use prophetic ministry when I work with people. That is the Holy Spirit reveals the sin that the spirit has attached too. Wait a minute Michael! Did I just read that correctly. Yes. You did and this is why the paranormal clergy is ineffective. When we use prophetic ministry the Holy Spirit will reveal the sin that is causing the familiar spirit to attach to the victim. We can go for sessions with an individual lying to us and finally admit the sin that was revealed was in fact correct. Deliverance is a whole other topic. But if you have a familiar spirit attaching itself to a family member this is what is going on. If you have never dealt with a demonic manifestation before just order it to shutdown.
Speak the person's name and order them to come up. For example, “Sarah. Sarah listen to me. I am speaking to Sarah. I order her in the name of Jesus Christ to come back up. I bind you unclean spirit and I order you to stop manifesting. I bind you. Release Sarah. In the name of Jesus!” This is how to shutdown the manifestation. Now you know there is a spiritual attachment to the person for some strange reason. I give more detail on how to deal with manifestations in my book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare.
Don't prolong the battle if you don't know what you're doing. It only makes things worse for the person under attack. You break the yoke of sin off the person and then you cast the demon out. The demonic rights must be revoked or else it won't leave!
Now keep in mind too, this is different from children seeing spirits. Many children have the gift of discernment and spirits try to use this to attach a spirit of fear on the kids at a very young age. Paranormal tv calls these kids psychic kids. THEY ARE NOT!! They are operating with a discerning gift from God that must be redeemed. This is a different style of work we do when kids have this gift from God.
There are lots of factors involved in a house blessing with spirit activity. It may take more than one battle. If this occurs, move the kids and the pets out of the house. There is victory in these battles. The spirits theater of operation is to convince you that you can't win.
God always does amazing things in this battle. Let him battle his enemies!
