Reality TV House Blessing Tips and Exorcising Homes

Some good information is finally surfacing from paranormal shows on what to do with demonically infested homes. I was watching the show, A Haunting, titled Angels and Demons, air date 10/19/2012.

No I am not going soft on these shows. Despite some improvement in dealing with spirits they're still classic shows on How NOT To spiritually cleanse a house. What always strikes me about these shows is that about a third of the shows feature Christian families, who know very little about their own God and faith. What is highlighted in these shows is how very little American Christians really know about the one true God. We have been sucked into a world of spiritual correctness as our governing bodies try to remove God from the country. Christians falling into spiritual correctness believe there is more than one way to heaven.  They also have allowed spiritist views to creep into their spirituality. And this episode of, A Haunting, clearly points out this alarming trend. What is particularly interesting about this episode is how God steers the people under attack back under his wing of protection. Despite their messed up theology, God is merciful, gracious, and victorious in the end.

This episode features a single, whom later gets married in the middle of the show, Kathy Sheets, in the fall of 2010, in Arnold, Maryland.  Kathy and her son move into a home that has demonic activity occurring inside it, even as they move in to the place. So this sets up the scene time and setting of the episode, Angels and Demons.

Christians Seeking Spiritist

This one kills me every time in these shows. We see a person who is portrayed as being a Christian, and the first sign of supernatural activity they run for help to a psychic. NO!!!!

Isaiah 8:19
19 When they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter," should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?

In Deuteronomy 18:9-12,
9 "When you enter the land in which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who casts a spell, or a mediu,, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.

Now let's take a look at how Kathy handles the demonic visitation. She goes to her friend the psychic. What???? How does a Christian even fathom, a psychic, or Tarot cards, which even this show calls messing with the occult, a good idea? I am not picking on Kathy. I am pointing out the same lack of core spirituality and foundation in Jesus Christ that we see in 2/3 of the cases we work with regarding demonic activity.

The show narrator says, "Some Tarot cards represent fallen angels who become demons" What??? Fallen angels are demons! This is not a Christian lifestyle. We do not consult mediums and demons. When we work with people in this situation we make them break off all contact with their psychics. Psychics actually make the situation worse in demonic activity cases. They can load you up with more demons and they believe the whole time they are helping you. Some people we have worked with in ministry were too obsessed to break off contact with their psychics so we ceased to assist them any further. You can't go to God for help and sneak out the back door and ask satan for help. It's like asking a drug pusher to help you break free of your addiction.

Visitation By Angels

It's not uncommon for a person to see an angel in the midst of demonic attack. Many of the times I have seen angels was either in the middle of spiritual warfare or a week or so after a real nasty battle. God is a God of balance. If we see lots of evil, during warfare he may let us see some of his calvary. Again, we have our friend Kathy, who has demonic visitations in her house. Then one day, God shows her he is with her. He reveals one of his angels. In this case, I believe, God knew Kathy had a weak spiritual foundation in her faith so He came to her and revealed one of his holy angels.

When a person sees something like this, it is called mystical theology. God shows up to us and shows us wondrous things. St. Teresa of Avila called these imaginary visions. It's when God literally takes over our facilities and senses and imprints the vision into our mind. They're incredible and they are given out to those God chooses. In this case, God was sending a message to Kathy he was going to help her.

Psychics and Spirit Guides

Kathy has a wonderful, mystical experience from God and she runs to see her friend - the psychic! Do you just want to scream at this point? Ok - grace. We know God is working on Kathy and He is steering her back to him. We'll be patient. But listen to how badly the psychic misses the mystical event.  This is clip proof psychics aren't on the same wavelength as God.

The psychic, "I believe what you saw is your spirit guide."
Kathy, "An angel?"
The psychic, "If you want to call it that..."

Can you see how the psychic is receiving demonic and deceiving information? God sent Kathy a marvelous calling card with a vision of an angel of the Lord. But the psychic knocks it down to a spirit guide. Demons use psychics to help feed misinformation and disbelief. A spirit guide, in the psychics terms in not an angel, but a deceased spirit. Which is lesser than an angel. So subconsciously, the psychic is now stripping Kathy of her mystical experience.

Be advised, too, that our ministry is being told more often now about Christian psychics who talk to angels and God and offer paid services. And Christians are getting sucked into this abomination. You don't need to pay a psychic to talk to God. That is why the veil was torn in the temple. You can talk to God and you can talk to him for free. As for talking to angels. That's a dangerous slope. If divination is an abomination to God, what kind of angels do you think are talking to psychics? DEMONS!!!

Fire Alarms!

For those of you who have heard Lisa and I share our battlefield experiences, you know about our fire alarm stories. In the early days when we went into warfare prayer, the enemy would always trip our fire alarms to stop us from praying. We've got fire alarm stories. When I saw this I couldn't resist placing Kathy's fire alarm story in this blog too.

Keep in mind when you bless your home or you go into warfare, the enemy loves electrical components. Fire alarms, stereos, televisions, radios, and even car fuel injection systems. Been there done that! Many times look at it as a reaction because the demons won't let you know they're getting pelted by you. Common warfare tactics is that they're going to present their status as being all swell and no dents from your spiritual Louisville slugger.

Our Father

Now we're getting into the good clips of this show. Finally, the people are fighting back. And what is working? God!!! In this scene, Kathy is being attacked by an unseen entity in her car. It's the spiritual authority of her son, simply praying Our Father, the Lord's Prayer, from Matthew 6. A teenager stands up to the demon and breaks off the attack!

When people work with our ministry we instruct them to "bind the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ". And then we would have them order to release the person. "In the name of Jesus Christ, release my Mom. Now!"

The Lord's prayer works equally as well. But the demon struggles more because the strong man is yet to be bound. In my early days, before I knew anything about spiritual warfare I had a similar experience where I fought off a demonic attack on me using the Our Father prayer. If you know nothing else, use the Our Father!

In situations like this, you must learn to fight back on your own. No one else can help you. A deliverance team or an exorcist can help you. But it all boils done to throwing the problem to the foot of the cross of Jesus and binding it there.  People that run to us with the help me, help me attitude and don't learn to fight or trust in Jesus - seldom win these battles.

Sometimes You Gotta Snap

Okay. Now I am starting to root for team Kathy. She's abandon her psychic and has relied on the information God is giving her. That's right. Kathy doesn't understand it yet, but God is talking over the fight here. We see Kathy becoming the spiritual leader of her family and God is working through her. This is exactly how you deal with the demonic. This is what we would instruct Kathy to do if she contacted our ministry. This is how you bring God, armed with nukes, to a demonic knife fight. It sounds like a lame metaphor, but it's the truth!

What this clip depicts is Kathy developing her spiritual spine and standing in her God given authority. When the demon manifested, it just stared at her to scare her. It's the crap they pull. It's warfare! What's interesting is that the demons didn't try to hurt her. I believe heaven was already on the scene. And having Kathy mentally snap, so to speak, in warfare mode, clearly displayed to the demons she chose to fight them. A+ battlefield tactics to Kathy here. She did what M16 would have instructed her to do. People that have worked with me and are reading this blog probably recognize my "sometimes you gotta snap". Another I put it to those being tormented by demonic nightmares is to "embrace the inner spiritual HULK and smash!"

Warfare prayer isn't petitioning prayer to God. It's warfare, and it's directed at Satan and his army. God's enemy. It isn't what one of my ministry friends would call mamby-pamby praying. It's all out assault on the demonic through prayer.

A few years back I had a demonic manifestation in my house when we were working on a demonic possession case. Much like what Kathy had. I bolted out of my bed and told the spirit to get the HELL out of my house. And you know what? It did! We have authority over the demonic. See Luke 10 if you don't believe me.

Making a Stand Against the Forces of Darkness

Kathy now takes the final stand against the forces of darkness. This is A+ M16 spiritual warfare. It is effective for Kathy because she is in no danger of being possessed at the moment. She has been tormented and attacked. Now her momma bear, warring spirit has taken over and she is going to get her  house back and everything the enemy has taken from her. This is the most effective form of spiritual warfare and house cleansing. She has been given a vision of an angelic presence from God, so she knows God is in the fight. Quite frankly, Kathy has better spiritual reception than her psychic friend. Whether she knows it or not, she is now receiving her battle intel directly from God.

In this case, I know Kathy's house will be free of the demonic infestation. I also believe she has developed a deeper spiritual understanding and relationship with God through this event. Despite Kathy being spiritually misguided. God came crashing through to help her.

If you're learning Deliverance ministry, I strongly recommend you pick up my book.

Blessings.

Entitlement Spirituality vs. Spiritual Authority

I know, it's October, and it's time for a spiritual warfare author and blogger to blog about the dangers of Halloween, right? Wrong! Although, Halloween is a bad idea for Christian's to participate in and it is our biggest spiritual warfare season because of all the witchcraft going on. But I'll let other bloggers post their do-diligence on the matter.

For me, I woke with more pressing matters as the Holy Spirit spoke to me this morning while I was waking up. The Holy Spirit was speaking to me on entitlement spirituality. What's that? Well, read on.

One of the goals I had for writing the book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare, was to teach others about spiritual authority through Jesus Christ. It simply was not taught at my church. In 2007, when I found myself in the center of a horrible demonic attack I didn't know what to do. Over the next year, the Holy Spirit became my teacher and showed me a lot of things I didn't know about my spiritual authority. I took strides in my walk with Jesus, both in faith and in trust. Even to this day, the Holy Spirit is revealing more and more to me about the extent of our spiritual authority and how far it extends. The reason I made such strides in my spiritual walk was because I stood in my spiritual authority. When I was first under spiritual attack, I didn't run to my pastor and beg him to pray for me. Nor did I organize a prayer group to pray for me. I spiritually owned the situation I was in and trusted in Jesus he would do something about it.

In December of 2007, I was under severe attack with 7x24 demonic voices. The spirits were attacking my spiritual gifts of discernment. I was trying to help someone, whom I later found out, didn't want to be helped, was under demonic attack. The demons knew this Sunday dress up Christian didn't want help. It was a trap to suck me in and attack me. And attack they did. After 7 days of voices bombardment, I couldn't take it anymore and they almost won. They almost drove me to a nervous breakdown. But I did something unusual. Well, something unusual to the modern church. I took a stand against the demons and ordered them to shut up in the name of Christ. I stood my ground in my spiritual authority and ordered them to silence in the name of Jesus Christ! It took about an hour for the voices to shutdown. Then, by evening, my head was wonderfully, intoxicatingly, absolutely, silent!

That was a ground shaking day in my spiritual life. Most people can tell you when they became believers and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I was raised in the Catholic Church and I was born with a cross in my hand, so to speak. What I can tell you though, is when I woke up and became a deeply passionate follower of Jesus. It was December 2007. What a wild Christmas season that was.

From that day forward, God has been taking me deeper into him and into spiritual warfare. I don't have an incredibly perfect prayer life. There are some days where I am too busy to read the Bible. And that bothers me. But I do have an incredible relationship with the heavenly Father, the creator of the universe, his son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It is through the relationship with God, that the authority in Christ is present. It is through my relationship with Jesus, that I am royalty. Jesus bought me and he bought you with a price.

Now, when I wrote A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare, it's targeted audience were people knee deep in their own warfare. People who bought a ton of books on how to route demons, and deliverance, but the books weren't adequate, because they said nothing about SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY!!!

Aside, from quoting Luke 10:18-19, what does it mean to have spiritual authority? And why did Jesus see Satan fall like lightning? It's because the 70 disciples took a stand against the forces of darkness and kicked it's shadowy evil butt! When you stand in authority, you are standing against the forces of darkness. Many Christians in America, couldn't spiritually fight there own way out of a paper bag. That's how far we've allowed our spiritual authority to be given back into the hands of the enemy. Part of this the pulpit is to blame. But also, it's the seminary schools, for ill equipping pastors for spiritual warfare. Academia is rarely on the battlefield and it's hard to teach about war unless you've been through a few major campaigns. What makes a better teacher of war history, a Harvard professor, or vet? We're losing ground in the seminary and the pulpit on this. Which means a weakened body of Christ. Plain and simple we have slowly been handing our spiritual authority back over to the prince of the world.

The odd spin off of this effect is what I call the entitlement spirituality. My ministry has seen this time and time again, where a Christian brings us into their battle and expects us to fight it FOR them. I have said this at speaking engagements, that I will not stand next to a Christian in battle who is unwilling to hold up their own sword in battle. I hear some scoffs and some sighs in the audience. Then I pause, and tell them, I will stand next to a Christian who is at least standing and shaking with their sword. Because at least they chose to put up a fight. From there the ministry can work with a person and teach them to fight their own battles. Yes, you read that correctly. Victory comes through fighting your own battles! In our entitlement society, we expect others to do everything for us. From the cradle to the grave. And now we have dysfunctional Christians in the pews. We get numerous calls from people who gave up without a fight and want us to battle for them.

We are a society that is self-absorbed with the occult and the paranormal. We are becoming dangerously fascinated by witchcraft. Christian witches are becoming a problem with churches. They show up as intercessors! The average Christian, we have seen through our ministry, has more misinformation in their heads from paranormal shows. They know little about the true Biblical way to fight off the forces of darkness.

What should you do if you're under spiritual attack? Go to the heavenly Father and speak with him. Then stand on your authority Jesus gave you and trust Jesus is going to do something about your situation. Most churches religiously tell you to put on your armor daily. Well, I am in spiritual warfare, I don't sleep naked! Which means I never take my armor off! Put your armor on and leave it on.

Do not become obsessed with the demonic attacks. This is a weapon of the enemy. Disbelief that the Father is not going to help you is another weapon of theirs. You must stand your ground, remain calm and pray. Command the voices to shut up!

In the name of Jesus Christ I bind you and command you to shut up! Now release my spiritual hearing in the name of Jesus.

This is a method of warfare for someone who has recently come under attack. Not for someone who is demonized, that is they hear spirits and they manifest them. This person requires deliverance ministry or clergy member from the office of exorcism to help them.

A lot of instructions of spiritual warfare can be found, in my book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare. Many times people buy a lot of books from popular Christian authors, only to find out the author has an academic theological understanding of spiritual warfare and not battlefield information. I receive numerous e-mails from readers with them writing, “Wow! You get it. That's what I needed to know!” Yes, we get it. M16 Ministries is a battlefield ministry.

God Bless

Mike

Ghost Hunters Scratches and Provocation

On Wednesday September 5, 2012, the SyFy channel aired another episode of Ghost Hunters after a short hiatus. The episode prior to this one, viewers said goodbye to long time member and TAPS cofounder Grant Wilson. I watch these paranormal shows as an arm chair quarterback. It's a lot like the Men in Black, where Agent J and Agent K buy the National Enquirer to see "who is here". When you watch these shows with a core foundation in spirituality, you get a different picture and story than what is edited and being presented to you from a spiritist's point of view.

In the Wednesday episode, the TAPS team members were at an old historic haunted prison in Charleston, South Carolina. TAPS was last of the so so paranormal shows I could watch without having to turn off the volume to avoid witchcraft spells (Ghost Adventures) or yell at the television for the investigators doing something incredibly out of the confines of exercising good ol'common sense. Then again, I say that loosely, because there is no common sense exercised when ghost hunting. Well, Ghost Hunters jumped the shark, so to speak, in this episode, where the first time in eight years of the show, a team member was scratched by a demonic presence.

I will remind you, the core foundations of this show is spiritist. There is nothing Christian about this show. However, what I was surprised to see was how at ease Jason Hawes and the producers of the show were, to send a young woman Haggar, who had been scratched, back into a demonic environment to be scratched again -repeatedly! This video clip is a great tool in examining how spiritists have no authority over the demonic. Listen to Adam command over and over for the spirit to leave Haggar alone and it repeatedly scratches her in defiance to Adam.

Now, I said I arm chair quarterbacking from my experience. Here is what I see going on in this clip. In some clips you can see Amy Bruni wearing a cross around her neck. I don't know what her faith background is. Just because she is wearing a cross doesn't mean she is Christian. She could be, but some spiritists use the cross as a magic trinket for protection rather than having faith. It works! But we don't use the sign of the cross as a charm! Amy is also pregnant, which is a terrible place to be in with a fetus in your womb. Spirits are known to attack the spirits of the fetus. Spirits have been responsible for miscarriages. Amy do something else until your child is born!

Ok, so back to Haggar, she is repeatedly scratched because she has no spiritual authority. I would venture to say she is New Age or has some other godly belief. Based on the attacks, she is probably New Age and has a spirit guide. The demon in the jail is trying to dominate the lesser demon - the spirit guide.  Why Jason Hawes didn't remove her from the investigation I don't know. I mean that would be simple common sense. But maybe it was for the sensationalism of the viewer this young woman was left at the merciless clutches of a demon. When an attack like this occurs there is an attachment of a spirit of Fear. And God only knows what else attached itself during this attack. This was a very bad move for TAPS. And now a lot of other paranormal investigators are going to try and pull this same stupid stunt because they saw it on TAPS. Paranormal investigation is a lot of monkey see -monkey do. After an incident like this these people require deliverance ministry and some pastoral care. We have seen this quite a bit in our ministry with M16 Ministries.

Our team has been in houses where we see people getting scratched or tormented. But it leaves our team alone. It's about walking in your spiritual authority. Churches don't teach this. It's about faith and learning to walk in spiritual authority. Spiritual authority also requires obedience to God. Our team doesn't go on ghost hunts because it's an abomination to the law of God. PERIOD! We will go in to assist someone. That's a different matter. And first we pray to God to be released into the situation. Again, that's obedience to God.

The other method that has run amok from TAPS is the process of provocation of a spirit. Again, this is spiritist practices and nothing any clergy in their right mind would do. I have another clip below from the series The Haunted. Where a paranormal investigator provokes a demon and the demon responds. The provocation being shown here is opening this individual up for spirit attachment. I wouldn't doubt other things have happened to this individual since the attack in this clip.

As for our spiritual warfare team, we use the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We don't need to provoke the demon to know it's present. We can discern it's presence. Sometimes you don't even need to discernment to feel the pressure of the demonic oppression in the house.

If you're church clergy and you have a FORMER paranormal investigator in your congregation with spiritual attachment or even manifestations you must minister to the issues and break off the sin. Do not try and remove the spirit until the person has closed the door on this pattern of living. Otherwise, it can get worse.

These television paranormal investigators are amateurs, presented as experts, and put their cast at risk to get ratings. What they are doing and presenting as fact is erroneous and dangerous. My team never does investigations. In fact, we get calls after the investigators leave to help calm down the home after what the paranormal teams stirred up.

More information on spiritual warfare can be found in our book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - the Power to PULL the IMPOSSIBLE from the HEAVENLY REALMS. Blessings Rev Mike

Sign of Jonah - Resurrection

As a kid in Sunday school one of my favorite Bible studies was always The Book of Jonah. Maybe because it was the funnest story to listen to about a bald guy (which is how he was depicted in the accompanying coloring art assignment with the lesson) and this friendly big whale. In Sunday school the whale played the role as God's taxi. Unfortunately, to simplify the story for Sunday school, Jonah took on a fairy tale persona. He didn't seem real when he was taught. Perhaps my teacher didn't believe the story and so it came across as make believe. Jonah is not the Santa Claus of the Bible. Let me make something perfectly clear, the Bible is the infallible word from God. But poor Sunday school lessons can condition us for the rest of our lives. How did I break free of this?

As an adult, I read the book several times too. My head got several readjustments when Jonah was mentioned in the historical book of Kings. Jesus also referred Jonah, which really got my head thinking about this Jonah guy. But it wasn't until I read the book through the eyes of a someone who has prayed for healing and inner healing that the pages of Jonah illuminated a deeper story. It's a small book, about 4 chapters (2 pages in my Bible) and nearly every chapter has a miracle in it. Something I felt my mind was conditioned to overlook because of the Sunday school mishandling of the book. But it was pretty clear to me now. There were miracles going on in the Book of Jonah. For a tiny book it was actually overflowing with miracles!

In the Book of Jonah, God assigns the prophet Jonah to go to Nineveh. Nineveh is the capitol of  Assyria, which is now modern day Iraq. Iraq is a brutal land today, it was more so in the time of Jonah. God sent Jonah to tell the barbarians of Nineveh to repent. Jonah decided he feared the Assyrian barbarians of Nineveh more so than God. So Jonah ran away to Tarshish. The first chapter of Jonah tells us he boarded a boat in Joppa and made his escape from the Lord.

The next thing we're told the ship is caught in a violent storm. Jonah finally divulges to the panicking crew, after drawing lots and loosing, that he is the culprit. His God is angry at him and he should be thrown overboard to spare the crew.

Chapter 2 is where things become interesting. We see Jonah's prayers from the belly of the fish. Was it a whale or was it a fish? Scripture doesn't specify. From chapter 2 verse 2,

“I called out of my distress to the Lord,
And He answered me.
I cried for help from the depth of Sheol;
You heard my voice.

Clue number one is from this verse, Jonah cried from the depth of Sheol. Sheol is death! Verse 5 is also filled with some interesting clues.

5 “Water encompassed me to the point of death.
The great deep engulfed me,
Weeds were wrapped around my head.

Basically, we see a description here of Jonah drowning. The deep engulfed him. What is the significance of the weeds wrapped around his head? Does it mean he was on ocean floor for some time before the fish picked him up?

In verse 6, Jonah descended to the deep. Metal crushing water pressure comes to mind at the depth he is talking about.

6 “I descended to the roots of the mountains.
The earth with its bars was around me forever,
But You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God.

I believe in verses 2-6, Jonah is painting a picture of his death. He died. The bars of the earth describe his fate was sealed.

What is difficult to piece together is if the fish snatched Jonah as he was cast overboard, like the Sunday school rendition, or the fish plucked the dead body from the bottom of the ocean. The verses sited paint the picture that Jonah was dead on the ocean floor when the fish plucked him up.

Whatever may have happened, we know from Jonah 1:17, that Jonah was in the belly of the fish for 3 days. Then in verse 10, the fish delivers Jonah.

10 Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.

Now I can't help but feel this is a miracle of Jonah being dead raised. No matter how you paint the picture, Jonah was either dead on the ocean floor, or dead by the digestive acids in the fish's stomach. Jonah was vomited out of the fish!

An interesting correlation is from Jesus in the Book of Matthew (12:40).

40 for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus is speaking on his resurrection! And then in Luke 11:29-30, Jesus mentions Jonah as a miraculous sign.

29 As the crowds were increasing, He began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it seeks for a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah. 30 For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.

It's possible that the sign being referred to here is the resurrection of Jonah's body and spirit as he was vomited out of the fish. All the pieces are there for this miracle. If you look at all the other miracles in the Book of Jonah, the possibility of Jonah's resurrection is not entirely out of the question.

A Field Guide to Spiritual House Blessing

The most highly requested information for my ministry, M16 Ministries, is for house blessing. We have been involved in a broad spectrum of spiritual cases requiring house blessing. We have been to houses where violent crimes have occurred all the way to the other extreme where we dealt with a house with a demonic legion in it. I can't say that we've seen it all, but we've certainly seen a lot.

During a missions trip to Guyana, South America, my close friend, Mark Neitz, of WhyNotNow Ministries, and I were called out to bless a home where spiritual activity was taking place. We were staying in Guyana at our missionary friends' house of Don and Maria Whitney. One hot afternoon, while we were at Don and Maria's, we were preparing for our 4 day trip into the Guyanese interior (the rain forest) to meet with Amer Indian pastors. A pastor came to the Whitney's house and requested Don, Mark and myself (Michael), to come out with him to bless a house. A woman, recently widowed, was in need of deliverance prayer and her house needed blessing. The three of us were in our shorts and t-shirts, it was hot. But we figured we were adequately dressed for deliverance and house blessing. What did catch my attention was that the pastor was dressed in his Sunday best. It was hot but I figured this pastor just stayed in uniform all week long. Don, Mark and I got into the pastor's little Toyota car and off we went for a house blessing.

When we pulled up to the house we were supposed to bless, we noticed a large number of people already there. They, too, were dressed in their Sunday best and this was the middle of the work week. It didn't take long for Don, Mark and I to figure out that something was wrong with this picture. Mark boldly asked the pastor, “hey, what is going on?”.

The pastor replied, “It's a 9th day funeral.”

A 9th day funeral is literally a funeral held 9 days after a person dies. It gives family members the opportunity to get their lives in order and make travel arrangements to get to the funeral. In Guyana, the biggest method of transportation is by boat. Some have power boats and some have canoes. Nine days is adequate time for the word to get out and for the family members to make it to the funeral.

I became more uneasy with the situation as we got out of the pastor's car. The Holy Spirit started giving me things to speak on at a funeral. I looked over at Mark and told him, if we get led up to the front of the people – I think we're doing this funeral. Mark looked at me and grimaced, “I was thinking the same thing.”

Low and behold the pastor led us to the front of the families and introduced us as pastors. And yes we did an impromptu funeral. In our shorts and t-shirts. When the funeral was done, the pastor led the widow up to the front where we were and asked us to pray deliverance prayer. I didn't like this one bit. Deliverance prayer is personal and I don't do it in front of an audience. So I gave the woman a quick blessing and whispered to her that we needed to pray in private after this was over.

When the opportunity lent itself, and the family members had expressed their condolences, Don, Mark, the pastor, and I were able to go into the house with the widow and bless it. I had the woman tell me what was happening in the house. The house itself was small, maybe 20x20, two rooms, built up on cement stilts. The woman proceeded to tell me how a hindu god (a demon) would come at night, manifest at their front door and terrify the family. I was then informed that one night the activity was so horrifying her husband dropped dead of a heart attack.

I asked the woman how she knew it was a hindu demon. She said because her family's fields were blessed by hindus. And her and her husband were hindu followers before they became followers of Jesus a year ago. And that is when the activity started. The four of us proceeded to bless the house and prayed over it in the blood of Christ. We blessed the doorways, the windows and the four corners of the house. We instructed the pastor on how to work with this woman in keeping the spirit from returning.

M16 Ministries gets requests from all over the world. Especially, from areas where witchcraft is prevalent. How do I protect my house from witches next door to me? This is a pretty common question. But that question is a double-edged sword that frequently requires discernment. Either the person requesting help is actually in need of help from a battle with the occult, or the person is in a spiritual battle where they are being deceived into believing they are under attack by the occult.

In any case, it doesn't hurt to simply bless your house! If you are a follower of Jesus you should bless your house often just to make your mansion a pleasing abode for the creator of the universe. Since I am in spiritual warfare I frequently bless my home. Many weary people step through the threshold of my front door and the first thing they always comment on is the peace in the house. We keep the spiritual blessing at a constant setting in our home. Regardless if you are under a spiritual attack or just wanting the peace of Jesus to descend on your home, bless it!

For starters, if your house is a mess and in complete chaos. Clean it! Hey, I have teenagers and my house can look worse that tornado stricken mobile home in seconds. FEMA doesn't cover teenagers, so we train the kids to routinely clean up. If you can't take normal steps down your hallway and you have to leap and jump to open spaces of carpet – it is time to clean your home!

Step One – Clean the House

Step one of house blessing is cleaning and spring (seasonal cleaning). Get rid of stuff you no longer need. Also, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you items you need to get rid of. You may be surprised what turns up. And you may stumble upon an item that spirits are attached too.

You're scratching your head right now and saying, gosh, my problem is paranormal and this doesn't make an ounce of sense. That's because you watch too much reality tv. The stuff on the paranormal shows is all bovine excrement. You are better off getting your advice from Jersey Shores. M16 Ministries is the team that gets called in after the paranormal investigators and demonologists fail. It's all New Age and spiritist mojo that doesn't work!!! If you truly have spiritual activity in your home it is a demon. It is not a ghost or a wraith or some other thing having its roots in spiritist and New Age lore.

Again. Step one – clean your house. Make it pleasing to yourself and the God most high. We're calling in the big guns. The capital-G God and not the lower case g (which are actually demons). Clean house! No psychics, no paranormal team and no paranormal clergy!!! This is a supernatural problem!

If you feel weird in any one room of the house make note of it while you are cleaning everything out. Get an idea of what the spirits are attached to in the house. Make note of it. We're cleaning right now. If you're a follower of Jesus put on some Elijah streams soaking music. Psalm 149, worship is a double-edged sword that puts kings in chains!

Let the godly ones exult in glory;
Let them sing for joy on their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And a two-edged sword in their hand,
To execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,
To bind their kings with chains
And their nobles with fetters of iron,
To execute on them the judgment written;
This is an honor for all His godly ones.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 149:5-9

This will be the spiritual beating of the battle drums off in the distance. If you're going to war in your house -start the singing and praising! Jesus is going to do something about the situation you are in.

If you are New Age or any other faith or belief and you are stuck in a really tight spot that requires a house blessing. Do the same as I instruct here. Jesus will answer you when you call to him. He wants to reveal to you that he does care about you. Forget the hate speech from your local self-appointed religious experts, they don't speak for him. Jesus is powerful enough to speak on his own behalf. If you are under a spiritual attack – call on him.

Step Two Bless the House

Very important you follow this guideline at this point. No psychics, no paranormal teams, and no paranormal clergy! Now let's proceed.

The paranormal tv shows love to bless a house in the dark. Why??? Do demons sleep during the day? All my battles have carried out during the day. I don't fight on demons time, I fight on my time. I am not at their beck and call. So I kick them out during the day. America has been spoon fed bovine excrement by paranormal tv shows! My team doesn't “Go Dark”, or have “Dead time.” or do EVP sweeps or use spirit boxes. These are all seances. M16 Ministries doesn't do seances we do evictions!

If you go to church, pick a nice Sunday afternoon after church and invite a few church friends over. Preferably, some mature followers of Jesus who won't be afraid of a spirit manifestation. Believe me, I know these people are hard to find. But if you have them at your church, bring them on your team for a praise and worship setting at your house. I strongly recommend it at your house where the battle will take place. If the activity is too intense. Start the praise and worship at your church and then move the party over to your house for the cleansing.

If it is your house that has activity I recommend appointing someone to be a prayer leader at your blessing. Why? Because if a spirit is attached to you, you will unwittingly be steered away from the areas that need blessing. Yes. The spirit will use you as the distraction. A prayer leader will lead the session and you will follow them. You will, however, stand in your spiritual authority with them. Having a prayer leader is also beneficial in the event the spirit manifests in you or one of your family members. This is spiritual warfare and stuff happens! Never ever bless your own home alone if it is a spiritual war zone.

Pick up some anointing oil. If you don't have some, just buy some olive oil and have your team pray over it and bless it. I recommend that you turn on spiritual music at this time too. Let it play low as background music.

If it is your house you must stand in your spiritual authority. Pray over and bless the people on your team. If you have a prayer warrior, have them pray and bless the team members for protection. If you know someone who is operating in the gifts of the spirit have them prophetically speak over your team.

Now you are ready for battle. Start in the front room of the house where the front entrance to the house is. Step outside to face the threshold of the front door and pray over the front door. I like using the method Moses described in Exodus 12, for anointing doorways.

7 Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.Exodus 12:7

We wont be applying lambs blood, remember Jesus was the final sacrifice. We will apply dabs of olive oil onto the doorframe. At the top of the door frame I draw a small cross with my finger dipped in olive oil. The two side frames I swipe with olive oil like the Hebrews did on their door jams.

Front Door Blessing Prayer:

1 Holy Spirit we turn this house over to you.
2 We invite you into this house and we pray over this house with the blood of Jesus Christ.
3 I bind darkness from entering this door.
4 Only the light of Jesus Christ may enter.
5 We expel the enemy from this house in the name of Jesus.

In the front room, declare your victory over the spirits. Read Revelation 20:7-10. You will start in the front room and systematically move through the entire house. Evil spirits that claim Jesus is a myth seem to always go berserk over that scripture. Inside the house, in the first room, read Psalm 91.

Bless all doors inside the house, including closets and basement doors too. Bless all the windows and the attic and the basement. Move slowly through the house and let the Holy Spirit guide you. When the Holy Spirit is with you, there is a supernatural protection you can feel. It literally is a tangible feeling You must not give in to fear and unbelief which is a weapon of the enemy.

Blessing doors:

1 I bind darkness from entering this door.
2 Only the light of Jesus Christ may enter.
3 We expel the enemy from this house in the name of Jesus.

Blessing windows:

1 I bind darkness from entering this window.
2 Only the light of Jesus Christ may enter.
3 We expel the enemy from this house in the name of Jesus.
Bless the property line. Walk your property line and anoint the fence on the four corners of the compass. Take your anointing oil and draw a cross with your finger on the four compass corners of your land. Read Joshua 6:1-6 in the Bible about tearing down strongholds.
I have kept the prayers pretty simple for people trying to bless their own homes. Be slow and methodical and pray through each room. Take time in each room and listen to what the Holy Spirit is telling you.

Step 3 Dealing with Manifestations

Now what happens when the magic show starts? You hear a growl, clawing, or a chair slides across the floor in front of you. You got the spirit's attention. It is fighting back using fear. When objects move shut it down immediately.

“I bind you from moving my stuff. I own this property and I own this house and I demand you leave now and go where the Holy Spirit tells you to go! In the name of Jesus Christ!”

Whatever you do -don't play exorcist. I have seen too many times in the middle of my deliverance sessions where a spouse decides to jump in and help me. It's always a binder with exorcist prayers and it is nothing more than a distraction when it is read by the untrained! No exorcism. Period!

The battle is all about you no longer fearing the unclean spirit. You have the authority over evil spirits handed to you by Jesus Christ and his work on the cross.

Read Luke 10:17-29

I have been in numerous situations where I confronted the spirit based on the intel the Holy Spirit was telling me. I was in a house where a psychic woman was channeling legion. She was not Christian, of another faith, and a foreign national. She had no idea what legion was other than it was making her life a living hell. Yet, she didn't want to part with it because it gave her psychic abilities. Be aware of these things too when blessing a house. And don't ever cast demons out of a person that doesn't want them gone.

Read Matthew 12:45.

This is where my wife and I have to come in and clean up after paranormal investigators because they casted demons out of people who weren't willing to have their demons cast out. Yes, there are people who want their demons and yet can't figure out why they're in torment. Anyhow, while my wife and I were working with the psychic, I heard from the Holy Spirit, the spiritual portal was upstairs in an empty bedroom's closet. So I walked up there and sat down, indian style on the carpet, in that room and stared at the closet and prayed in the language of the Holy Spirit. The spirits didn't touch me. The oppression was so thick in that room you could have cut it with a knife. The spirits didn't try to do anything to me other than they wanted me out of the room. The woman manifested downstairs with my wife and the psychic let out a scream. I have encountered legion numerous times and they know that I know they're fallen angels. I also know they must obey God.

Philippians 2:8-10

I don't do anything stupid during warfare. I know how to listen to the Holy Spirit during battle. The point to get across here is that demons are not a ying and yang thing with God. Demons are not the evil equal to God. God is omnipotent and powerful. Demons are creations of God and they have powers, but they're limited. When you understand this in battle, it makes all the difference in the world.

Now if a person manifests during the prayer session, it is an attempt by the spirit to shutdown the prayer walk. It means your efforts are working and the spirits are trying to stop you from finishing. Several things are now possible when a manifestation occurs. One, the spirit feels they have a legal right to the family for some strange reason. It could be they have freemason or witchcraft in their background. Those are examples. We don't know. The prayer leader must discern if the spirit attacks are focused on one family member. If they are there is an attachment that must be broken. This is difficult because now we are dealing with past sins that must be addressed and we're talking about deliverance prayer session which is different from a house blessing. I use prophetic ministry when I work with people. That is the Holy Spirit reveals the sin that the spirit has attached too. Wait a minute Michael! Did I just read that correctly. Yes. You did and this is why the paranormal clergy is ineffective. When we use prophetic ministry the Holy Spirit will reveal the sin that is causing the familiar spirit to attach to the victim. We can go for sessions with an individual lying to us and finally admit the sin that was revealed was in fact correct. Deliverance is a whole other topic. But if you have a familiar spirit attaching itself to a family member this is what is going on. If you have never dealt with a demonic manifestation before just order it to shutdown.

Speak the person's name and order them to come up. For example, “Sarah. Sarah listen to me. I am speaking to Sarah. I order her in the name of Jesus Christ to come back up. I bind you unclean spirit and I order you to stop manifesting. I bind you. Release Sarah. In the name of Jesus!” This is how to shutdown the manifestation. Now you know there is a spiritual attachment to the person for some strange reason. I give more detail on how to deal with manifestations in my book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare.

Don't prolong the battle if you don't know what you're doing. It only makes things worse for the person under attack. You break the yoke of sin off the person and then you cast the demon out. The demonic rights must be revoked or else it won't leave!

Now keep in mind too, this is different from children seeing spirits. Many children have the gift of discernment and spirits try to use this to attach a spirit of fear on the kids at a very young age. Paranormal tv calls these kids psychic kids. THEY ARE NOT!! They are operating with a discerning gift from God that must be redeemed. This is a different style of work we do when kids have this gift from God.

There are lots of factors involved in a house blessing with spirit activity. It may take more than one battle. If this occurs, move the kids and the pets out of the house. There is victory in these battles. The spirits theater of operation is to convince you that you can't win.

God always does amazing things in this battle. Let him battle his enemies!

I hope this information blesses you. Again, Jesus helps everyone who is in torment. If you don't believe in Jesus and you are under spiritual attack, just find a place of peace and reach out to him. There is a spiritual war going on and it is very real.

Battling the Occult

M16 Ministries receives a lot of e-mails requesting help on how to battle witchcraft. Witchcraft is one of the most difficult topics on warfare to teach. For one, battling witchcraft comes from experience. I would say this is one of those subjects that is caught and not taught. It's not so much the battle with witchcraft itself as it is working with misinformed Christians. Many times our ministry is approached by people who are in a panic and are not standing in their own spiritual authority. One of the biggest issues we deal with is determining whether there is actually a threat at all from witchcraft. Our ministry deals a lot with another subject of deliverance, called demonic obsession. This is when a person is diabolically oppressed with obsessive thoughts. In the case of demonic obsession and witchcraft, the oppressed person believes everyone around them is a witch. Through their eyes, everyone in their town is secretly a member of a coven. The ministry call always has the person requesting help and in a panic. "They're every where and their after me. They come into my apartment when I am not home..". The demonic obsession is real but it is in the form of obsessing they are under attack by a covert coven of witches, singling them out for their attacks. Working with these people involves having them wake up from their demonic lie. Some do and some don't.

Now what do we do when we establish the threat is real? First of all. Our ministry doesn't go running into a gun fight. If we establish an individual is under an attack from witchcraft we pray and talk to the Father for direction. God may give us revelation on what is going on in this situation. Perhaps this individual still is yoked to witchcraft through their past involvement with the occult or a soul tie to a witch. The yoke must be broken, and during this time you must assess if the individual is sincere about being saved from the attacks. We have worked with individuals who would rather be attacked because it brings them their identity or notoriety or attention they are seeking. Be careful of running into a fight with witchcraft. Look at the individual asking for your help.

Never ever launch an attack against witchcraft. Pray to the Father for understanding and to see if you are released into helping this person. You won't always get a yes. During this time have you and your prayer team pray to the Holy Spirit for a hedge of protection around the individual.

In fights we were called in to, I have noticed during this time of waiting and praying, true diabolic attacks or spirits show up at our doorstep looking for a fight. Again, we didn't run in and start a bar fight. This is during the time we are waiting and praying to the Lord. The spirit realm knows something is up and comes to you to investigate or to act like a gang banger to scare you off. Now you know you have a real threat with witchcraft. In all the battles with witchcraft my team has been in we have been called into the fight by simply praying for revelation and protection for the individual seeking our help. This takes experience. And I highly recommend you stay away from all prayers where you are “binding princes in heavenly places”. I never pray that prayer but inexperienced prayer warriors do.

There is no methodology in battling witchcraft. It is a Holy Spiritual lifestyle and standing in your spiritual authority. During this time we work with people to stand in their own authority. Yes. We make them fight the battle. If they don't want to stand in their own authority they are turning their dominion over to Satan and I don't recommend working with these people until they're ready to be a mature Christian. Second, the demons bypass this individual as already being conquered and come after you and your team. Many times we are working with an individual in raising their own bar in faith and authority. If there is no progress, and many times it is baby steps, break off working with the individual. In these fights I am talking about working with Christians. My wife and I have gone out and worked with non-Christians, 50% of the time, when the person sees for themselves signs and wonders in an attack they don't need much more proof to ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. But we have the other 50% who don't want to accept Jesus. It happens. We work with them on what they're options are. They're not a lot. Demons come back multiple fold when the house is left unclean. Sadly, after a few sessions we'll stop working with these people.

Battling witchcraft itself is praying and having a conversation with the Father. It's the Father's will be done in these battles. Many times people are surprised I am not always having discussions about warfare with Jesus. It's about your relationship with Jesus. I will fast during these battles to go deeper with Jesus in prayer life. And at the same time, as I said, pray that His will be done in this situation.

Why do I do this? Because Jesus fights witchcraft his way. The spirit was poured out on all of us. Including the person practicing witchcraft. He doesn't want this individual facing eternal separation from him. I have no clue how Jesus will fight a battle either.

Witchcraft uses spirit realms and dreams for their battles. On several occasions, Jesus has used these factors in warfare. God will use dream warfare quite often when dealing with witchcraft. I don't understand why.

Ok Mike, give us an example. Alright, ...just remember you asked!

In November of 2007 my home church was involved in a large church planting in Ethiopia. Our senior pastor at that time took a team to Ethiopia and held a conference to equip pastors in that region. A few weeks later, a couple of days after Christmas, one of these equipped Ethiopian pastors went back to his village and had a power encounter with the local witch doctor. Witch doctors have powers and are feared. The threat here is real. Don't let your western civilization way of thinking tell you other wise. The Ethiopian pastor drove the demons out of the witch doctor and all the village saw it. The result of the power encounter was the entire village then accepted Jesus – the one who defeated the witch doctor. This was big news in this part of Ethiopia.

During this time, witch doctor's in other villages heard too and put out the spiritual hit. Retribution was building a special ops force in the spirit realm to retaliate. In this, one of the responsible parties was my home church for sending our pastor to equip Ethiopian pastors. The hit was out on the streets so to speak.

One night, somewhere in the week after Christmas and a day or two before New Years eve, I was a sleep in my bed. I was in a deep sleep and all of a sudden I found myself standing in a swamp looking at a small shack. I entered the small shack and saw a woman, about 65 years old, standing next to a large cauldron. There were lots of candles lighting the shack. The woman was stirring the cauldron, and I distinctly remember, she was startled by my presence as she saw me walk into the door of her shack. Kind of like, “What are you doing here?” She gave me a sinister smile and I walked over to see what she was doing. I looked down in the cauldron. I could see she was stirring a black mirky boiling broth. I could see bones boil up as she stirred. I noticed the bones started manifesting flesh as she stirred. One skeleton formed into a large man that stepped out of the cauldron and came after me. It was a tall, big man. I decided it was time to exit -stage right!

I left the room and the man caught me. He wasn't human, he was a demon. He grabbed my right arm and forced me to the floor to bow to him. Like vin Diesel's character Riddick, “I bow to no man!”. Or in this case, to “no false god!”. The demon forced me to my knees by crushing my right hand. I fought to keep from kneeling. The demon took out a knife and proceeded to cut into, I believe it was, my right pointing finger. I felt the pain. It was real. As I struggled I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to say, “I know where you are. You're in Louisiana!” At that moment I was thrown out of the dream warfare and woke up with one of those gasps for air that accompanies a nightmare. Only this wasn't a nightmare. There was a huge adrenaline rush and a feeling of something wasn't right about what just happened.

The next morning I woke up with a weird buzzing in my head. I didn't realize it yet. But I got hexed by the witch in HER dream. It took me years of warfare and studying Christian dream interpretation to figure out it was HER dream. Hey, remember you asked!

With my mind buzzing, I did my morning routine and sat down and checked my e-mails. One e-mail caught my attention right away. It was from my senior pastor. He shared in his e-mail the testimony I shared earlier on the power encounter with the witch doctor. My senior pastor called for a fast and a special prayer meeting later this evening. As I read the e-mail, I remember hearing the Holy Spirit telling me, “You did it. You averted the attack (on your church)”. In the cauldron were the demons summoned for our church. It's interesting to look back in retrospect and see that at this time I didn't think the Holy Spirit was talking to me. And now I know all along he was there with me the whole time.

During the day the buzzing became worse and words in my mind became an obsessive disorder. It was extremely irritating. Then I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to go to the church prayer meeting tonight. This is hard to explain. But I am following the Holy Spirit's direction thinking it's my own thoughts. Later, as you work in prophetic ministry you learn the still quiet voice is the Holy Spirit.

It seemed like forever for 7:00 PM to roll around for the prayer meeting. All I wanted was this rattling out of my head. For some reason I felt the prayer meeting was the key (Holy Spirit at work here...).
When I entered the sanctuary I was surprised to find only about 7 people in attendance of this meeting to glorify God for the work done in Ethiopia. It was the senior pastor, his wife, the church accountant and his wife, one other woman, myself, and the pastoral care pastor. The pastoral care pastor lead the prayer session and he had us go to the altar of God and confess our sins. At this time I was eager to do anything. Can you tell I am a bit green in spiritual warfare in this stage of my life? I approached the altar and soul searched for the sins I needed to confess. Just me and God. I wanted to be honest with God about what I wanted to confess. Then the sins came to me I needed to repent for. I remember weeping and all of a sudden, I realized the witches mojo was GONE!!!!

The people in attendance had no idea what had just happened. I was elated and emotional and it was a side of me they had never seen before in church. I think they were even more curious to figure out why I chose to come at all to the meeting. Yep. God was really working on me during this time. I wasn't the man He needed me to be. But the Holy Spirit was working on me!

I use this as an example of how God battles witchcraft. If God is in the fight you are triumphant every time. Because of my spirit realm dream warfare battles I have experienced I no longer put God in a box . I give him free reign to do it His way!

If any of you send me an e-mail to teach you about dream warfare I will reach through your display you are reading this on and slap you silly. God handles everything His way. And that's what you must keep in mind during these battles. Above all, make sure God is in the fight with you. Witchcraft packs a nasty bite when you are operating outside the covering of God. And never ever go looking for a fight with witchcraft. Yes. Witchcraft is there. It's been there since the dawn of man. Let God deal with it.

Demonology – Nephilim and Evil Spirits

The Nephilim have always been a controversial piece to our Biblical history. Who were they and what were they? In the Bible the Nephilim make their grand and mysterious entrance in Genesis 6.

Genesis 6:2-4, we see another theological mystery, the sons of God.

that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.
Then the Lord said, “ My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6:2-4

That's it for their grand entrance in the Bible. What I would like to address is the Nephilim and their role in demonology. There are several different schools of theological thought on what demons are. From my Benny Hinn library on deliverance, I have the sermons where Benny Hinn believes demons are a pre-Adamic race. When God wiped out the pre-Adamic race the spirits became demons. My personal belief, and from examining scripture closely, is that demons are fallen angels, and I will give my thoughts and experiences shortly. Then, there is another theology that has popped up which links the Nephilim to being demons. So we have several categories of possible roots of evil spirits, pre-Adamic spirits, fallen angels, and Nephilim hybrid spirits. All three cases surface in the different schools of deliverance and exorcism ministry.

Keep in mind the Bible is full of controversy on angels and demons. We have so many different schools of thought on what angels and demons are and aren't. I recently heard one pastor preach he didn't believer Lucifer was an angel and made the distinction between angel and cherub. We have the controversy in the scriptures, the Sadducees didn't believe in angels, demons or resurrection.

8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.Acts 23:8

Let's focus on the subject of the Nephilim and how they entered into the fray of controversy in demonology. The clues to this mystery are actually found in the New Testament. The Nephilim may be the source of reference in the books of Jude and 2 Peter.

Since I am from the school of thought that demons are fallen angels I will refer to them as such. In Jude and 2 Peter I believe we are clearly dealing with angels that rebelled against God. There is no chance of redemption for the angels that disobeyed God to his face and in the presence of His glory. Their fate was sealed the moment they embraced their sin.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
2 Peter 2:4

There is a complimentary scripture in Jude.

And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,
Jude 6

However, I do believe in the book of 2 Peter and Jude, that the angels held in chains are the ones responsible for the Nephilim. It's my personal belief, and again, it's one of the many conversations I'll have with Jesus when I go on to my glory. At this point in time it's inconclusive.

The Book of Enoch Mystery

There is an interesting curiosity here in angelology, demonology and theology. Both Peter and Jude are referencing a book not included in the Bible, called the book of Enoch. Many Hebrew texts were lost in first century due to wars between the Jews and the Romans. The book literally disappeared off the face of the earth. In 1773, a British traveler and scholar, James Bruce, found copies of the text in a community of Jews and Christians in Northern Ethiopia. They were written in Coptic. Later, an ancient Greek version surfaced, and then ancient Hebrew fragments were discovered with the Dead Sea Scrolls. Both Peter and Jude were citing text from the book of Enoch. Keep in mind what we are about to examine raises more questions than answers but needs to be addressed in this discussion.
Jude is specifically citing the book of Enoch. How do we know this? A clue appears in Jude 14,15.

14 It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “ Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,
15  to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Jude 14-15

Jude refers to Enoch as prophet, who prophesied the Second Coming of Christ. Enoch is referenced in the book of Genesis in verses 5:18-24.1 He is mentioned in the listing of the generations of Adam. Six short verses in the family tree and then this verse.

24  Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Genesis 5:24

There is no mention of Enoch the prophet with a messianic prophecy. Where did Peter and Jude get their information from? A matching text can be found in the book of Enoch. Again, a book not included in the Bible yet historically exists.

1Behold, he comes with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon them, and destroy the wicked, and reprove all the carnal for everything which the sinful and ungodly have done, and committed against him.
Enoch 1:9

What we have is a mystery or a theological puzzle that can't be resolved with the information we have on hand. As you can see, Jude, in Jude 14-15, is quoting Enoch 1:9.

Why is this important? If Jude and Peter are referencing the book of Enoch, which was in the synagogue in their time, we see another mystery surrounding the chained angels held in darkness. In Genesis 6:2-4, we see another theological mystery, the sons of God.

that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

Again, there is a parallel text in the book of Enoch, found in Enoch 6:2-4.

1 And it came to pass, after the children of men had increased in those days. Beautiful and comely daughters were born to them.
2 And the angels, the sons of the heavens, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: “Behold, we will choose for ourselves wives from among the children of men, and we will beget for ourselves children.”
Enoch 6:1-2

If the pieces of this puzzle match then we have the defining sin that created the Nephilim. Rebelling angels took for themselves earthly wives and polluted God's creation with their wicked family lines.
In Genesis 6, Moses tells us that Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations.

But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.Genesis 6:8-9
Was Noah spared because he was a just man and his family line was pure from the demonic DNA? We have a case for the Nephilim and the flood being a result of angels leaving heaven to seek and conceive with human wives. The angels held in chains in Peter and Jude could possibly be detained to keep them out of God's creation. Most demons act as tempters, in this case. these demons offense was that they defiled creation itself. And for that reason they were exiled in chains into the darkness of the pit. The book of Enoch raises more questions then answers. Is it a missing book that should have been included in the Bible? Who knows? Again, it is as much a mystery in it's content as is the book of Tobit in the Roman Catholic Apocrypha. It is my personal belief that the Nephilim were the product of rebelling angels conceiving with earthly women. However, I don't believe the book of Enoch is the definitive piece to prove my theory. Theologians also believe the sons of God refer to the descendants of Seth and not referring to rebelling angels.

Nephilim and Evil Spirits

Now let's discuss where the belief that the Nephilim are the source of evil spirits on the earth. Again, it is found in the book of Enoch, chapter 15.

8 And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon
9 the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin;
10 they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.]
11 And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless
12 hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them.
Enoch 15:8-12

This is the key point the Nephilim spirit school of thought makes it's argument. I am not a Biblical scholar, it is times like this that I wish I had a PhD in theology. The fact of the matter is that these pieces simply don't fit. It is my belief that hybrid spirits roaming the earth is theologically impossible. This is the same reason I don't believe in ghosts nor have I encountered one in the nearly 500 cases of demonic activity M16 Ministries has been involved with. Our ministry team has worked in numerous cases involving the incubus and succubus demons. We have seen people get raped during deliverance prayer session by an unseen spirit. We have seen objects manifest from the stomach through witchcraft. Putting two and two together it doesn't take much more consideration that through sexual demons and witchcraft, DNA can be moved from a male and placed in a female. And there is a new life. Raise the child evil with no morality, and it's possible you have a Nephilim. Wickedness can taint DNA. The DNA can be manipulated but not created. We can manipulate DNA now and build better and illegal athletes, hence drug and hormone testing. An evil hybrid human is not beyond the scope of reasoning. The hybrid's will (part of the soul) can be raised and trained to be evil. However, the spirit comes from God. This is the part of logic which I find unsettling in the Nephilim spirits as being demons. God makes it clear how the process of death works. If these are evil created spirits that are part man, then they go to sheoul when they die. They don't linger on, just like spiritists believe our souls can linger on here on earth.

The book of Enoch sure explains a lot if it were true and accurate. But we don't know. I consider the book of Enoch to be an interesting piece of spiritual literature and history. But nothing more. It's one of those things I am going to have to have a conversation with Jesus about in Heaven. But I think I received the word of wisdom on this book loud and clear.

My Encounter with an Angel of Judgement

One of my most eye opening experiences and encounters with a demon happened on the Friday Night Strike, on the weekend of Father's day, in 2008. I remember this weekend specifically because my wife and I were attending a conference that weekend hosted by Georgian and Winnie Banov, Hiedi Baker, and Bill Johnson, in San Jose. So I am able to lock in the time frame for this experience I am going to present as my evidence for fallen angels being demons.

I had a team ministering on the streets of San Francisco. On the team there were three young women from a local church from the San Joaquin valley, and my son. We were praying for homeless people on the streets when this obnoxious man approached us. I was going through a weird spiritual season during this time of my life where the Holy Spirit was having evil spirits walk up to me and identify themselves. This loud mouth man approaches us and as he comes closer to us I notice I can only see the whites of his eyes. No pupils. He is walking down the street blabbering loudly with his eyes rolled in the back of his head. He approached our team and walked straight over to me. We were pretty much face to face when this spirit identified itself as an angel of judgement. I won't give the exact name, but it clearly identified itself as an angel. From the encounter I believe it was an angel of judgement waiting in the city. Now, I don't want you to go off the deep end and start saying the city is going to hell in a hand basket. This is not the case. I believe the angel is in waiting if there is no change of heart in the city. Working with some incredible homeless ministers, who live on the streets, we have witnessed in the past several years since then an incredible move of the Holy Spirit over the city. It's some exciting times in the city right now.

Now back to the angel of judgement story. These were my early days of God teaching me about deliverance ministry. I thought since this guy was demon possessed I could simply cast the demon out of this individual. I was filled with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and so was my son. We tried to cast the demon out. Thank God for the Lord's Grace and Mercy! As my son and I tried to operate in the prophetic and get the demoniac's name, my son got a word of knowledge, Philip. We tried to no avail to cast out the evil spirit. So the man stepped aside from us and walked on down the street, with his eyes still rolled up in the back of his head, and we watched him walk away. As we turned around, the man, was NOW right in front of us again as if he had teleported. My son and I looked at each other and we looked at the demon possessed fellow. The guy strolled by us again. I looked over at the three young women who were with us and they were petrified. I know one of the women was a youth pastor. Needless to say, after several months of serving Night Strike we never saw their faces again after this incident. It freaked them out.

Now, the name Philip my son got as a word of knowledge, let me direct you to the book of Acts .
(8:26-40).

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”
37 Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” The eunuch answered, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
Acts 8:36-40
Philip was whisked away by the spirit. What we witnessed was a demonic imitation.

For this reason and many other experiences I strongly discount that the Nephilim are the source of evil spirits. The Nephilim are an enigma and make for an interesting study in the Bible. Especially, when the giants show up again the post Noah flood scriptures. I have seen on youtube where prophets are now prophesying about the return of the Nephilim and the plan of evil spirits. I don't believe this at all. Go ahead and throw tomatoes my way if you will. I have seen too much in the battlefield for me to think otherwise.
